Thank you for expressing an interest in working in our school. This is an exciting opportunity
for a talented teacher of English wishing to take the next step in their career. I am keen to
appoint a colleague who plans to use this opportunity as a stepping stone to further

The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant and dynamic team, who work well together.
English is something of a flagship department; they achieve very good learning outcomes as
teaching is good across the department. Boys’ performance is an issue.
As a school we have made good progress as a result of a relentless focus upon improving
teaching and learning and the development of literacy. It is my expectation that all lessons
develop literacy, promote thinking, maximise pupil engagement and effectively utilise AFL. All
staff are expected to work collegiately and share good practice. Our learning philosophy is
encapsulated in the attached Learning and Teaching Policy and I would wish to appoint a
candidate in tune with our vision. Teachers of Queen Elizabeth High School get to work with
exceptional young people.
The school was built in 2008 and offers an outstanding learning environment. E-learning is at
the heart of our learning philosophy and we are an ICT rich school.
This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to both support and work closely with an
excellent subject leader and independently adopt a project approach to school improvement.
Working in a large talented department will offer an excellent career opportunity; the successful
candidate will share in the responsibility for monitoring standards, self-evaluation, improved
planning and performance management.
