FORT WORTH, TEXAS VOLUME XCXIMarch 2015 Potentate’s Column As spring approaches, we know it is time for new awakenings. We see it all around us in nature. It is only befitting that we recognize the new beginnings that surround us as Shriners. The Wallachs, Benefields, Rahmehs and Haileys attended the Hella Potentate’s Ball on February 14 in Dallas. We had the privilege of joining two of D. Michael Wallach our Shriners Hospitals patient Potentate ambassadors from Galveston at the Ball. Harli White, who many of you met here last fall, the young race car driver from Oklahoma who was burned in a racing accident, was there. After several years of treatment, she has returned to racing and is a beautiful young lady. Keylee Latham, a nine year old girl from east of Dallas was burned last summer in a 4 wheeler accident. After several months of treatment at Galveston she has progressed greatly in her rehabili- tation. Both of these young ladies and their families are eternally grateful for each of you as Shiner and Shiner families in giving them a new beginning in life. With our IHOP National Pancake Day on March 3, we kick off our spring Hospital Fund Drive events for the year. That, of course, will be followed on May 1-2 with our traditional store fronts and street corner collections. Assistant Rabban Phil Trew, HFD Chairman Jeff Ingham and their committees are organized and ready to go in their ever prepared mode so that we can solicit the generosity of the good people of North Texas to support our great Hospitals in Texas. This is also a great opportunity to show the Fez and to get our new and established members working together for our core purpose as Shiners. Finally, we are working on a new project on May 3031 to raise funds for our hospitals. We are working with the North Texas Food Truck Association to have a Food Truck Festival at the Temple where all of the community can sample the various fares, enjoy a festival atmosphere with live music and free tours of the Masonic Temple to learn about our long history Continued on Page 5 In this Issue...
