The University of Sydney Business School is regarded as a leader in the region, and is one of the

only Australian member school of CEMS, the Community of European Management Schools.
The Business School has an outstanding international reputation in management research, learning,
development of resources and journal publishing, and works in close cooperation with industry,
government and the not-for-profit sectors. From 2015 it will be situated in a new $180m state-of-theart learning environment which, in the highly competitive global market for business education, will
further enhance its ability to attract the best and brightest students, staff and researchers from around
the world.
Our Discipline of Accounting is a well resourced group of over 30 academics strongly committed to
excellence in both research and teaching. The discipline is home to two highly rated international
journals – Abacus and Australian Accounting Review, and through its Accounting Foundation works
closely with industry, business and the accounting profession.
We are currently seeking to make two (2) new appointments in the Discipline of Accounting at either
Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. As a successful applicant you will contribute to:

the effective teaching of financial accounting and/or audit, curriculum development and the
enhancement of teaching methodology
the research strengths of the school, including the pursuit of competitive research grants and
regular publication in journals of high national and international standing
the school's expanding program of professional and industry research collaboration
the supervision of higher degree research students
academic administration and service activities.
To be successful you will possess:
•

a completed PhD in accounting or related discipline
demonstrated ability to contribute to high quality teaching of accounting
an active program of accounting related research
an established record of high-quality refereed journal publications (for Senior Lecturer level)
or evidence of the ability to publish refereed journal articles and the potential for future highquality publications (for Lecturer level)
expertise in one or more of the major areas of accounting, including financial accounting
evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach
course and program development experience (for Senior Lecturer level)
leadership skills, administrative experience and evidence of service contributions (for Senior
Lecturer level).
There are also desirable criteria for appointment at either level.

Remuneration package Lecturer: $104,644 to $124,263 p.a. (which includes a base salary Level B
$88,426 to $105,004 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
Remuneration package Senior Lecturer: $128,185 to $147,672 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Level C $108,318 to $124,898 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to
superannuation).
A salary supplement may be negotiated with successful applicants.
The level of appointment and responsibility will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
