Salary £24,000 The Marketing Manager will be responsible for: Producing and delivering the marketing and communication strategy. Monitoring and evaluating marketing and communication campaigns. Proactively managing, updating and monitoring the website and social media channels with relevant, accurate and engaging content. Managing, writing and coordinating membership and other stakeholder communications. E.g. e-newsletters, Focus Magazine. Managing and updating the British Orienteering Print Portal Identifying and disseminating examples of marketing and communications good practice that have the potential to increase participation and membership Liaising with colleagues, volunteers, clubs and key stakeholders to support the promotion of orienteering and our events. Building and maintaining relationships with the media and partners Developing, creating and managing sub-brands for British Orienteering Managing the corporate identity of British Orienteering and sub-brands Assisting in the delivery of sponsorship agreements Working closely with a variety of colleagues to provide marketing and communications advice and support to a variety of work programmes Working closely with club volunteers to provide marketing and communications advice and support Role summary British Orienteering: Key responsibilities, main tasks and activities Work closely with colleagues, clubs, members and other key stakeholders to champion the British Orienteering vision and values Plan and deliver a number of marketing and communication campaigns to communicate key messages to stakeholders and members. Produce high quality marketing materials for a range of target markets Source content, update and monitor the British Orienteering website and social media channels. Attend exhibitions and conferences to promote orienteering and the Governing Body Work with colleagues, clubs and stakeholders to proactively develop and promote the sport Write and distribute press releases and work with the local and national media Assist in the production of funding bids and strategic documents Marketing Manager Be an active member of Steering Groups as appropriate Membership: Source content and edit the membership magazine ‘Focus’ and work closely with a range of suppliers e.g. designers, printers and mailing houses. Produce e-newsletters Produce the Annual Report and AGM Booklet Produce all membership related literature Produce questionnaires for membership related research Manage and enhance member benefits Clubs: Assist Clubs with their marketing and communications by providing: Marketing templates via the British Orienteering print portal PR and social media advice via the website An up to date image gallery Advice and support as appropriate Event paraphernalia to assist with marketing local events Major Events: Produce marketing materials and manage the corporate identity for the British Championships and JK Festival of Orienteering Produce template websites for major events and provide advice and support to the volunteer webmasters Support the Event Manager and volunteer Publicity Officer with updating and monitoring social media channels Produce press releases and liaise with the local and national media Support the Event Manager and Commercial Manager with fulfilling sponsorship agreements Attend major events to conduct interviews, liaise with photographers, media and sponsors in order to produce timely and engaging news items and press releases. Development: Create targeted marketing and communication campaigns to increase participation Manage the corporate identity and produce all marketing materials for the increasing participation brands. E.g. Xplorer, RunChallenge, Xplorer Schools Work with the Development team to generate national and local PR for the increasing participation brands Work with the Development team to manage, update and monitor subbrand websites and social media channels Work with the Development team to produce marketing and communication resources and best practice guidance for clubs Work with the Development team to create and enhance the opportunities for participants to move from increasing participation brands into Marketing Manager mainstream orienteering. E.g. Permanent Courses, Transition events Performance: Work with the Performance team to create marketing and communication campaigns to raise awareness of the Talent and Performance Programme to members, the media and partners. Work with the Performance team to create marketing and communication campaigns to raise awareness of our elite athletes to members, the media and partners. Work with the Performance team and elite athletes to create and distribute press releases about athlete success at international and national competitions. Work with the Performance team to manage, update and monitor websites and social media channels. Produce resources for the Performance team as appropriate. Support the Performance Manager and Commercial Manager with fulfilling sponsorship agreements. Other duties commensurate with the level of the post, as determined by the Chief Executive. Marketing Manager Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree or similar qualification Current Driving Licence Desirable A marketing or communication related degree and/or CIM qualification Experience The candidate must be highly motivated, self-driven, enthusiastic and be able to use their own initiative.
