Many thanks to the Pima staff for handling all the site arrangements and the U of A staff for the program planning. The Users session drew 20 ASSIST Users from 11 of the 13 participating institutions. A demonstration of using ASSIST data to generate reports on transfer students’ university enrollments by college of major and other key demographics was presented. Also recent modifications to the ASSIST database due to changes in federal definitions (for example, new IPEDS racial and ethnic categories) and new federal requirements to report graduation rates by various federal financial aid programs were highlighted. Finally, the participants developed a “wish list” for possible changes in the database and support activities. If you are interested in obtaining any of the materials associated with these topics, please email assist-q@asu.edu. The Steering Committee was attended by 15 representatives from 10 institutions, APASC, ABOR and ASSIST. Discussions focused mostly on operational topics such as technical updates and the use of ASSIST to aid the community colleges in their dual enrollment reporting to the state for this coming cycle. Policy and operational issues related to the State of Arizona Statewide Longitudinal Data System and the ADE’s Project Plan for SFSF Requirements Related to Post Secondary Education as well as ABOR’s Data Sharing Agreement with ADE and the National Student Clearinghouse were addressed as much as time allowed. ASSIST 2012 Annual Meetings: Tentative Plans Northern Arizona University has offered to host next year’s meetings in Flagstaff. The tentative dates selected are March 29 and 30. The Program Chair is newly elected AZAIR Vice President Mary Schaal from Arizona Western College. If you did not have an opportunity to complete the AZAIR evaluation survey sent with your AZAIR receipt in April, your comments on this year’s offerings or suggestions for next year’s program would be valued. Send any overall AZAIR program suggestions to Mary Schaal at mary.schaal@azwestern.edu or ASSIST recommendations to assist-q@asu.edu. Current Developments ASSIST Hyperion Web Users: Notice Concerning Internet Explorer 9 If you upgrade to Internet Explorer (IE) 9, you will not be able to use the Interactive Reporting Tool in myReports. Although IE8 is also not a supported browser, most of the functions will work with the exception of opening PDF files and importing queries. That will not be the case with IE9. If your institution mandates IE9 as your browser, you may use the myApps work around noted at the spring meeting. This will allow you to use ASSIST on myReports using IE7 through the web regardless of the actual browser you have installed on your computer. Unfortunately, the myApps solution has not solved the problem of opening PDF files as we were first told several months ago. The links to both the myApps and the Hyperion web download have been moved and updated by UTO in the last few weeks. Use IE7 Web Hyperion via myApps for myReports Arizona State System for Information on Student Transfer http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-81934966 Hyperion Web Client 9.2.0.3 download http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfhelpKbView.seam?parature_id=8373-81934467&source=Selfhelp&cid=58511 New ASU Technology Help Desk phone number The 24/7 ASU Technology Help Desk is transitioning into the Help Center that will be supporting other functions at the university (such as human resources and financial aid). The current number of 1-480-965-6500 is still operational as well as the new Help Center’s 1-855-278-5080 number. You can contact the Help Center by phone, email or by a live chat feature. http://help.asu.edu/sims/selfhelp/SelfHelpHome.seam?dept_pk=822 Dual Enrollment Table revisions and updated file layout With a change in the definition of the dual enrollment cohort for this year’s state reporting (seniors enrolled in a dual enrollment course anytime during their high school years versus the old definition of enrolled in a dual course only during their senior year), revisions have been made in the file layout to include course semester. Cohorts drawn or submitted under the new definition for this reporting cycle will reside in the CC Dual Enrollment Cohort table with the addition of the course semester data element. These tables are currently set up in the database. The data documentation has been drafted and will be posted soon. If you would like to view the drafted table documentation, please email asisst-q@asu.edu. Summer To Do Check List Our ASSIST to do list seems to be growing daily! The top priorities are: 1) the final testing of the new ID match logic; and 2) getting caught up on loading 2009-2010 community college files and the 2010-2011 university files; while 3) working on ADE’s request for post secondary data for each institution to meet their SFSF grant requirements by the end of the summer. The other key projects this summer involve supporting the community colleges’ need and efforts to comply with the state’s dual enrollment reporting requirements and updating the Arizona Statewide Transfer Rate Report along with each institution’s individual reports. Finally, work will begin on the redesign and relocation of the ASSIST website to the APASC website currently being updated. Coming this fall: probable upgrade of Hyperion to the newest version ASU’s UTO department has been working on bringing up the latest version of Hyperion which will be tested internally while both environments run simultaneously over the summer. One goal of the new system is to solve the issues experienced with browser compatibility. All ASSIST users set up to access the database in myReports will be kept informed about the progress and implications of this upgrade. 2011-2012 ASSIST File Submission Calendar The ASSIST file submission calendar for the coming fiscal year is posted on the ASSIST website.
