This Associate in Arts degree program is designed for students who expect to transfer and earn a degree in Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, Environmental, or Computer Engineering at Florida State University. For additional program information, visit the FSU website, program description, and academic map. Possible employment areas for chemical engineer include chemical, environmental, biomedical, biochemical design, food, polymer, project, process, research, & materials engineer; civil engineer includes structural, transportation & pipeline, environmental, highway, water resource, construction, & geotechnical engineer; electrical engineer includes electrical, computer, analog circuit design, applications, product development systems, and digital circuit design engineer; industrial engineer includes industrial, manufacturing, production, systems, applications, and systems analyst engineer; mechanical engineer includes electrical, gas turbine, nuclear, solar, environment & transportation, aerospace, solid waste, offshore & arctic, plant, textiles, computer engineering. For more information please visit the Occupational Outlook Handbook website. While academic advisors, faculty and staff provide significant academic planning and related assistance to students, completion of all degree requirements, and the process of monitoring progress to that end, is ultimately the responsibility of the student. ACADEMIC PLAN: Associate in Arts Degree Engineering Transfer Institution: Florida State University Code 1080 Program Length 60 credits 2015-2016 For more information Contact: Student Affairs Chipola College (850) 718-2266 Entrance Requirements All areas require a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 for admission. Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” or better in MAC 1311; MAC 2312; CHM 1045; CHM 1046 (for chemical/biomedical engineering majors only); and PHY 2048C for civil, computer, electrical, and industrial engineering majors. A single repeated attempt in only one of these four courses is permitted with no more than one grade of “C” allowed. Chemical and biomedical engineering require BSC 2010; civil and environmental majors are strongly encouraged to complete BSC 2010. Check the FSU College of Engineering website for details on each major. All first time in college (Fall 2014 and beyond) students are required to successfully complete two years of the same foreign language in high school or two semesters of the same foreign language at the college level before the associate degree is awarded. Home School students must demonstrate competency through competency testing. FSU requires competency in oral communications for graduation. If students took a speech course in high school or were members of a debate team, they may exempt this requirement during the FSU admissions process. Students may take SPC 2608 at Chipola to satisfy this requirement. FRESHMAN YEAR 1st Semester ENC 11011 CHM 1045 & 1045L MAC 1140 & 1114 XXX XXXX2,3 SLS 1101 TOTAL Sem. Hrs.
