WELCOME WEEK CALENDAR
An Iraq veteran who was a
key player in the passage of the
new GI Bill credits his "amazing"
experience as an ASUC president
with many of the successes he
has had in his life. Patrick
Campbell was ASUC president in
the 1999/2000 academic year.
He had always wanted to enact
social change, and his
involvement in the student government was one of
his first big steps.
The concern and need to help the world around
him is a common thread that ties his early Cal
experiences to his work with veterans today. He
says his time at Cal and his experience at the
ASUC gave him an introduction to the larger
legislative machinery of Washington, D.C.: "it was
an amazing and helpful experience."

Study Lounge,
located on the
seventh floor of
Eshleman Hall,
has been
revamped for fall
semester. The
new paint, new
drapes, and new
plants contribute to a productive working
environment and plenty of fresh oxygen.
In a nutshell, this is one of the best study places
on campus. It is the only quiet study area that
allows food and drinks. There are soda and snack
machines conveniently located inside, in addition to
being conveniently located near plenty of Southside
restaurants.
