Health and Medical Apprenticeship Program Sponsored by the School of Public Health and the ASUC Public Health 116 TA Applicant Info Sheet Instructions: Minimum Requirements: Please read the minimum requirements for the PH 116 TA position below. Make sure you have time for this position in your schedule next semester. If you do not, please consider applying next semester. Application: Turn in your completed application to the envelope on the wall outside the HMAP office (Eshelman Compound 312C, Cubicle 16) by 5 PM on Friday, November 6th, 2015. No late applications will be accepted. Hard Copies only. You will receive a confirmation that we have received your application the night of November 6th. o Student Identification: Please attach a photocopy of your student ID to your application so that we can verify your student status. Interviews: On Thursday November 12th a list of applicants who have been offered an interview will be posted outside of Eshelman Compound 312C Cubicle 16. If your name is on this list, please sign up for a 30-minute interview by 5 PM Wednesday, November 18th, which will be posted next to the list mentioned above. o All interviews will be held on Sunday November 22nd, 9 AM – 12 PM Results: We will post a list of selected TAs for Spring 2016 by Monday, November 23rd on the wall outside the HMAP office and via email. o Accepted TAs will need to attend a short meeting on Monday, November 30th, 2015 from 5:15PM – 6PM after the last PH 116 exam. If you cannot meet these requirements for next semester, please consider applying when you can. Pass PH 116 lecture and discussion section At the beginning of the semester: o Attend the TA training retreat next semester. The retreat will be held on the weekend immediately preceding the Spring semester (TBA). The retreat is a MANDATORY, daylong training session. If you cannot attend, please do not apply. Weekly: 1. Lecture: Attend all PH 116 lectures – Mondays from 4-7 pm. 2. TA Meeting: Attending all TA meetings – two hours once a week. The official time will be confirmed during the retreat — will likely be Tuesday evenings from 6-8 pm. 3. Discussion Section: Lead a weekly one-hour discussion section on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, once a week. 4. Homework: Read and comment on student homework and return in a timely manner. 5. Office Hours: Hold one weekly office hour in Eshelman Compound 312C Cubicle 16. During the Semester: Lesson Plan: Write one lesson plan on one lecture topic for use by all the TAs. It will include homework, quiz, and exam questions for that week’s topic. You will lead TAs in a mock discussion and provide a snack during that week’s TA meeting Exams: Proctor all three PH 116 Midterms for your section. Serve on Exam Committee for one of the midterms Attend: ALL other MANDATORY events announced at retreat.
