Adopt-An-Element Requirements:
1) Complete the “Adopt-An-Element” information sheet for your element.
 You will need to use at least two of the provided websites on Edmodo to find information
about your element. If you are unable to find all the information you need from two
websites, you will need to use more websites until you have found all the information.
 You will also need to find a picture of your element or a picture of an example of how your
element is used for the element “tile”. The website you use for the picture DOES NOT
COUNT AS one of your two information sources (See Fact Sheet).
 The fact sheet must be completed in the computer lab and turned in on Edmodo.
Save your copy of the “Adopt-an-Element Fact Sheet” in your document using the following
file name: Your Last Name_Element Name. For example, “Alvarez_Carbon.”
 Look at the pictures below to help your successfully turn in this assignment on
Edmodo.
Step1: On the Science 8 Edmodo page, find the
“Adopt-An-Element” Assignment & click on the
“Turn In” button.
Step 3: Find
your file in “My
Documents.”
Double-click on
it.
Step 2: Once you are on the assignment page,
click on the icon that looks like a piece paper with
writing on it.
Step 4: After
you attach the
file, click on
the “Turn In
Assignment”
button.
Step 5: You should see an icon of your file after you
click on the “Turn In Assignment” button.
You should also see the phrase “Submitted on...”

Adopt-An-Element 2) Create a visual “tile” for your element.
 The tile must include the element’s name, symbol, atomic number, atomic
mass, and the picture of your element or an example of how your element
is used.
 Your tile must be neat, colorful, and contain all of the information listed
above.
 Your tile needs to be completed on an 8½ x 11 piece of white paper.
 If you create your element tile by hand, the element information needs
to fill the page (see the example below) and legible.
 If you create your element tile on the computer, be sure the font size is
big enough and readable.
