Two first-state wood engravings signed by Gwen Raverat and used in
the Penguin Illustrated Classics edition of Laurence Sterne’s A
Sentimental Journey (C2), published in Penguin Illustrated Classics in
1938:
‘The Temptation’ was used as ‘The Fair Fille-de-Chambre’ on the
frontispiece of Sterne’s A Sentimental Journey.
‘The Dead Ass’ [or the mourner] was used on page 64 of Sterne’s A
Sentimental Journey.
