General Board of Church and Society 2014 Ethnic Young Adult Internship Program Application Introduction The Ethnic Young Adult (EYA) Internship program is a yearly program sponsored by the General Board of Church and Society. All interns work and live together Washington, DC. Interns are placed in work settings where they will be a critical part of the placement's mission and operations. Interns also participate in weekly devotions and seminars to engage spiritually, emotionally, and theologically with issues of justice. Interns also participate in two trips to explore Methodist history (Baltimore area) and engagement in the world (New York City) as well as attend Sunday worship services. Reading, viewing and writing are also enriching and required elements of the EYA Internship. The EYA Internship program recruits ethnic young adults of potential and passion from throughout The United Methodist Church, including the Central Conferences in Africa, Philippines and Europe and the Oklahoma Missionary Conference. The EYA Internship program is offered annually. In 2014 the dates of the EYA Internship are: Thursday, May 29, 2014 (arrival in D.C.) through Saturday, August 2, 2014 (departure from D.C.). Support/Benefits The General Board of Church & Society will provide each participant: Round-trip transportation to and from Washington, D.C. Housing during the EYA internship Commuter travel stipend to offset cost for travel to and from work sites and Friday Seminars $1,500 for each EYA Intern as a living stipend for the internship period based on fulfillment of required program components Expectations Each participant must provide: Health insurance.
