You should expect to have a test on Funny and Farci during the first week of school. Be
sure to read it closely and take notes.
Choice Text Assignment:
Write a two-page essay in which you respond to the prompt below. This essay will be
based on either Chronicle of a Death Foretold or My Forbidden Face (depending on
which one you choose to read). This essay should be at least two pages in length, typed,
double-spaced, and in Times New Roman 12 point font, and correct MLA formatting*.
*You may consult The MLA Formatting and Style Guide on the Purdue Online Writing
Lab as a reference.
Essay Prompt for “choice text assignment”:
Examine the society within the novel, and then write a well-developed essay that explains
how society impacts the actions of the main characters. This composition should not be a
summary of plot. It should demonstrate critical thinking and in depth analysis skills. Be
sure to use specific evidence from the text (quotations or dialogue) to support your ideas.
In-text citations should follow MLA formatting.
