Interactive Discussion of the Killer Robot Case
Read the Case of the Killer Robot. Below I have assigned each project team to a specific
character in the case. When you come to class teams representing each character will get
up in front of class and explain why they should not be held responsible for the death of
Bart Matthews. Please note that I do not know anything about the law in this matter so
let’s not talk about “legal” responsibility. Instead, we should talk about how our actions
and those of others affected the outcome of the case (or Bart’s death). In addition, each
“character” should identify the one person (or entity) in the case that she believes is most
responsible for Bart’s death.
This exercise is pretty informal. I encourage everyone to ask questions and interact with
each other as much as possible during the case discussion. And be as creative as you want
to be. “Be the character”!!!! If someone asks you why you did something make up an
answer (if it is not provided in the case, of course).
