Part 2 of this movie is about 23 minutes long. Part 2 starts when Dr. Crane seems to be
leaving Dr. Campbell and walks off in the rain by herself. Part 2 ends when Drs.
Campbell and Crane are descending from the top of the forest's upper canopy and Dr.
Rae Crane yells, “Hot Dog!”
Assignment:
After watching Part 2, you will write a composition about two pages long. Your
composition will need to begin with an introduction in which you explain what your composition
will be about and where you got information for your composition.
After the introduction, you will need to write the main part of your composition which
should include: (1) who the medicine man is and how he got that name, (2) information about
Campbell's medical discovery, and (3) what problems Campbell has with this discovery.
The last part of your composition should be a conclusion. In this section you should
describe where the characters are at the end of Part 2 and state the purpose of the upper canopy
in a rain forest.
Characters: Campbell - American; botanist
Crane - American; biochemist
Kalana - Amazon native; was born and has always lived in the area of the rain
forest where Dr. Campbell is studying
Jahausa - Amazon native; husband of Kalana; born in the Exoti tribe, a tribe
which lives in a different part of the rain forest
Imana - Amazon native; child of Kalana and Jahausa
