HOW DOES APPRENTICE WORK? The Concept. This portion of class will be based off the hit TV reality show “The Apprentice.” Just like on “The Apprentice” each week we will be given a new marketing task. These tasks will be real life assignments that have to do with Laingsburg High School or Laingsburg Community. We have been hired by outside organizations and individuals to market something for them. These assignments may vary in what is required of you. No matter what the task, you will be evaluated on your performance and given a grade by Mrs. Barrett (a.k.a. Donald Trump). So Where Is The Competition? You are competing to be one of the three highest scoring individuals in the class. Although you win and loose as a team, you will also be competing on an individual basis to be the “Marketing Class Apprentice.” There will be two “Honorable Mentions” that will receive rewards as well. How Is It Scored? Each week aside from being graded by Mrs. Barrett, a.k.a. Donald Trump, you will also be graded by your peers. This grading will actually be a ranking of your performance on the task. Each team member will rank everyone else in their group (excluding themselves) from 1-5. No one can rank more than one individual the same score. Your Winning teams will receive an additional 5 points to their score for each win. The final way you can win points is by being a successful “Team Leader.” For each task you will have to choose a Team Leader. If your team is successful when you are the team leader you will receive an additional 5 points. No one person can be a team leader more than once, unless everyone has had the opportunity to be one. So What Is The Prize? The prize will vary from year to year. The new “Marketing Class Apprentice” will receive a reward valued at, at least $25. The two “Honorable Mention” students will receive a reward valued at, at least $15. Each week the winning team is rewarded with a small token of appreciation. Remember, winning the task entitles you to an extra 5 points. What Are The Board Meetings Like? Unlike, the Apprentice each team will have a board meeting. During this board meeting we will discuss the customer’s evaluation of your performance and your evaluation of each other. It is important during these meetings that you keep an open mind to any constructive criticism you may receive. Rudeness and foul language will not be permitted. Those who act in this manner may have all of their points taken away.
