Writing Situation:
Parking at Union High School has become a big problem. More
students are driving cars than the school has expected and there are
limited parking spaces. Plus, parking spaces need to be provided for
teachers and other staff members. To solve the problem, the
principal has stated that students who are on a bus route MUST take
the bus. This rule is intended to ease the overcrowding on the
school parking lot.
Directions for Writing
Write a letter to the principal expressing your opinion on this
controversial issue. Support your position with reasons, facts,
examples and other evidence. Convince the principal to take your
opinion seriously.
