The Sixth Beatitude: “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.” By Group 6 What is the meaning of pure of heart? Pure of Heart means those who (and/or) are: a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) i) Filled with God’s grace Able to make moral decisions correctly and independently Open in helping others Open to God: prayer and sacraments Faithful to God at all times Strive to do good to their neighbor Able to see God in others/ treat others like Him Humble and honest Promoters of peace within their individual communities What else does this beatitude tell us? In doing all the other beatitudes we are able to have a pure heart. Seeing God means appreciating ourselves, our neighbors, and our environment and always being good to them. Act as God’s instruments Having a pure heart – long, gradual process Must try our best to think before we act Faith is essential What are the values/characteristics of the people who live out the sixth Beatitude? 1. We can show that we are pure of heart by doing selfless acts such as helping other people with their studies. We can always tell the truth even though we know we did something wrong. We can help our teachers carry things not just so that we will have a high score in the report card but because we want to help. We can avoid bullying our classmates especially using foul words against them even if everyone uses them. 5. 6. 7. 8. We can join school/ community events or projects that help charity. We can show this by being humble even if we have very high achievements. We can tell our classmates to stop saying bad words and most especially not imitate them. When a classmate is being bullied, we can defend them. 9. 10. 11. 12. We can show respect to our classmates and teachers by listening to them and talking to them properly. Tell the class adviser about the happenings in class even if your class will get mad at you. We should think of others when making decisions not only ourselves. We must do all acts of kindness because we really want to help.
