Perth:Release from prison of urban terrorist has alarm bells ringing
Unrepentant urban terrorist Jack van Tongeren
will leave jail today - a move AttorneyGeneral Jim McGinty says he fears but
cannot stop. Van Tongeren, who led the
Australian Nationalist Movement`s racial
hate campaign in the late 1980s, will have
spent 12 years behind bars. Mr McGinty
said yesterday van Tongeren had refused to
undergo psychological assessment or to do
any rehabilitation programs, and had
basically stayed in a state of denial.
Mr McGinty and some ethnic community
leaders are concerned about his release and
continued ANM links. But WA Chinese
Chamber of Commerce president Wilson
Wu said van Tongeren was entitled to
freedom and he wished him well.
The founder and leader of the ANM, van
Tongeren was behind a campaign of terror
against WA`s Asian community which
involved the fire-bombing of Chinese
restaurants and a wave of anti-Asian
propaganda, including the pasting of
thousands of offensive posters in public
places.
Arrested with other ANM supporters in
August 1989, van Tongeren, then 41, was
convicted of 53 crimes, including conspiring
to drive Asians out of WA and burglaries to
fund ANM operations. Click here for full

Hunt for gang rapists: Have you seen these men?
Images of three men who gang raped a 16-yearold girl in the grounds of a Sydney high
school were released yesterday by police.
The 16-year-old girl was forced from the
Birrong railway station into the playground
of a nearby boys high school on the
afternoon of September 5. She had caught
the 5.28pm train from Parramatta.
Police said the attack, during which the girl
was forced to the ground by a man armed
with a knife, lasted at least two hours.
Detective Senior Sergeant Janice Stirling
said today police had made images based on
the girl`s descriptions of her attackers, all
aged in their late teens and of Middle
eastern/Mediterranean appearance.
"One of the men, who was armed with a
knife, forced the girl into the ground of the
Birrong Boys High School, where she was
allegedly sexually assaulted," Sgt Stirling
said. "Following the incident, the girl
managed to break free from the men and run
to a nearby home for help." Click here for

California: Danielle’s parents break silence
A day after a jury recommended David
Westerfield be put to death for the murder of
Danielle van Dam, her parents broke six
months of public silence to thank the panel
for their verdict.
"The only way we can possibly give back to
you is to ask our angel Danielle to watch
over you and your families," said Brenda
van Dam Tuesday morning at a press
conference in the beachfront park where her
7-year-old daughter once played.
"We were relieved and happy with the guilty
verdict. We feel that the justice system
revealed the truth and Danielle`s murderer
has been held accountable," said Brenda van
Dam, who like her husband wore a button
with the words "In Loving Memory" printed
over Danielle`s photo. "That was our hope
— that Danielle`s death would not go
unanswered." Click here for full story

New DNA technology to aid in the Eloise Worledge abduction
On a warm January night in 1976 Lindsay
Worledge popped his head into the bedroom
of his 8-year-old daughter before retiring for
the night. Eloise was sound asleep,
surrounded by her many coloured pictures
and drawings that adorned her walls.
That was the last time Eloise Worledge was
seen.
The state of Victoria was shocked by the
abduction of the pretty blonde with the
toothy smile. The disappearance from her
home in the Melbourne suburb of Beaumaris
on January 12 resulted in one of the state’s
biggest police investigations. Unfortunately
the high profile inquiry failed to find any
trace of Eloise.
"I think they should lash the bastard and
then hang him," Mr Brereton said of his
cousin’s killer.

Soccer fans detained for using Witchcraft
Four soccer fans have been detained in the Congolese capital Kinshasa for trying to use witchcraft to
scupper a rival team's chances in the African Cup Winners' Cup, local media report.
Pro-government daily L'Avenir said the "sorcerers" had been caught trying to cast an "evil spell" on the
pitch at Kinshasa's main stadium to make a rival team, A.S. Vita Club, lose their quarter final tie to
Morocco's Wydad Casablanca.
"Naturally, they were apprehended and beaten by security agents, and won't be released until after Sunday's
match," the paper said in its Saturday editions. Tips To Protect Yourself Against Crime
Overseas Investment Scams
It is estimated that over 100,000 Australians have lost their money in fraudulent and illegal investments in
the last 10 years. International markets are now more integrated with international funds, investing abroad
is easy. But it’s also easy to be tricked into investing in shady schemes.
Con artists are quick to pick up on the investment market favourites and create look-alike swindles that
mirror hot investments in legitimate markets.
Older people are a prime target, because their retirement funds are available. Fraudulent schemes usually
require that you invest a lot of money and promise either a large increase in the value of your investment or
higher-than-market interest rates. Click here for full details

“One of the subscribers to your newsletter, who is a member of the true crime group on Yahoo forwarded
me a copy of your newsletter. I'd like to compliment you on an excellent job - it's very thorough and
detailed. I don't know if you have seen my post on the true crime group, but I'm working on a project that
might interest your readers. The cases featured are exclusively in the United States & the new season of
Unsolved Mysteries airs on the American cable network Lifetime TV - so I don't know if your readers will
still be interested or if the new season is available via satellite to viewers in Australia or Europe.
“Regardless, here's a brief recap of the work we're doing & links to the online content. My company is
working on a special online campaign to help find missing children and resolve unsolved crime cases. It's
co-sponsored by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Lifetime TV. We've developed a
special online Crime Bulletin that features current real cases that are being aired on Unsolved Mysteries &
3 current cases of missing children from the NCMEC. The Crime Bulletin will rotate new cases each week.
In the course of the campaign, 3 of the children featured in the NCMEC have been found & Unsolved
Mysteries has been instrumental in successfully reuniting families and convicting criminals.
“Here's a sample link where you can find the bulletin:

“ What a wonderful service you provide the public. Just recently I had suspicions about a man who had
just moved into our community. I ran his name through your database and found he had previously been
convicted and jailed for a sex offence. To be fore warned is to be fore armed! Please keep up the excellent
work do you are doing.” Mrs K, regional New South Wales
