OJ SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL 1994 Case Study Due date: lab grade Entire class will construct one combined case study on the OJ Simpson double murder trial Rubric is on wires. Weighted levels are noted Class decides on format for product presentation of research and 6 parts must be merged to create one complete case study to be shared Each of the six groups will be assigned an aspect of the case and responsible to other groups for completed project Photos must be included as part of research for each group. Only key issues/evidence/people need be represented in photos. They should be small images that support an issue. No more than 6 per group. Class may decide to have a lead student organizing all research. If so, who is it? Each student needs to have specific tasks to fulfill. Names and responsibilities will be reported to Mrs. P Each group will do ONE of the following; decided by arrangement or random choice; 1. Background information of all victims, suspects, and other material persons in case. (jury, judge, prosecutors, defense lawyers) When this occurred, who is involved, what occurred prior to crime, conditions of each major person and their lives, who are defense and prosecution teams, who is judge appointed to case 2. The crime; the type of murder; charges that may have been applied, ‘who’s who’ in the actual murder, suspects possible, how reported, who arrived at crime scene. This is a graphic crime. Timeline of crime established by investigators 3. Evidence- All evidence- statements, history, physical, blood, trace evidence such as but not limited to footprints and glove and car chase 4. Witnesses- Prior to during or after murders- People interviewed and those who testified-including experts (omit DNA evidence-group 5 will do) 5. Blood and DNA evidence and all issues that arose from each. This group needs to do some follow up information on how DNA evidence impacted verdict. 6. OJ’s second trial, civil case brought by Goldman family following murder trial verdict AND OJ’s armed robbery trial in Nevada and update on his present situation imprisoned in Nevada There will be some overlap – evidence and blood evidence group should talk to each other but stick to the topic # and as issues and questions arise, there will be whole class time to review and clarify.
