WEATHERHEAD SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT RANKED BEST IN THE WORLD FOR ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR School Jumps 13 Places in Financial Times Business School Rankings and Achieves Top 10 Ranking in Entrepreneurship CLEVELAND, January 23 - Continuing its surge in recent rankings of the world's top MBA programs, The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University announced that it leaped 13 places in The Financial Times Annual International MBA Survey, and was named best school in the world for Organizational Behavior. Weatherhead, ranked as one of the top 50 U.S. business schools and 64th internationally, also achieved a top 10 ranking in Entrepreneurship. The Financial Times ranking, published January 20, confirms the progress that the School has achieved over the last year. In Fall 2002, The Economist ranked Weatherhead 26th in the United States, and BusinessWeek placed the School in the top 50 in the U.S. citing it as an example of b-schools that were close to being in the top 30. "I am delighted by the well-deserved recognition for our Organizational Behavior Department as best in the world," said Mohsen Anvari, Dean of the Weatherhead School of Management. "It is a testament to the innovative, breakthrough thinking of our faculty. Another strong showing in entrepreneurship is also a gratifying acknowledgment of our thought leadership. Indeed, the fact that the School as a whole advanced significantly in the rankings is an indication that bold ideas with lasting value can be found in many of the teaching, learning and research activities that take place at Weatherhead." Weatherhead was the first business school in the world to have an Organizational Behavior Department, and it was the first to integrate a competency-based curriculum into an MBA program. Recent groundbreaking work in the Organizational Behavior Department also includes a best-selling book on Emotional Intelligence co-authored by Professor Richard Boyatzis, and Professor David Cooperrider's development and practical application of Appreciative Inquiry. In Entrepreneurship, Weatherhead boasts the most comprehensive offering in the United States, including entrepreneurship programs in engineering, law, medicine and a brand new specialization in bioscience entrepreneurship. Additionally, the program includes research around issues such as international business, high-tech start-ups, women & minority business ownership, and family business. The School's entrepreneurial outreach activity takes place through its subsidiary, Enterprise Development Inc, which incubates businesses and provides education and recognition to entrepreneurs.
