B.TECH Project: – Manufacture of ethyl alcohol using molasses
The idea of the project, is to produce ethyl alcohol from molasses, calculate mass and energy requirements and calculation of economics and drawing of location and laying out of the plant.
M.TECH Project: – oxidation of benzyl alcohol in solid-liquid system using crown ether as phase transfer catalyst.
A novel catalytic process, for the synthesis of benzoic acid, with high selectivity, from benzyl alcohol (BzOH) by oxidation with potassium permanganate (KMnO
4
) using 18-crown-6 as phase transfer catalyst in a batch reactor is studied. Process parameters such as temperature, reactant/oxidant mole ratio, catalyst loading, on conversion were studied.
