Since 1999, the Central Library of IIT Kharagpur has been organizing Technology Book Fair every
year to support the information needs of IIT Kharagpur community. The fair can reasonably claim a
special status in being the only one of its kind in the area of Science and Technology Organized by an
educational institution in this country. As a window on the frontier less world of books in diverse
fields of thought, the fair given us an opportunity to update and enlarge our vistas of knowledge. A
good number of Publishers/ Publishing Agencies from all over the country Participated in the Book
Fair in the previous Years to display several thousands of books in the field of Science & Technology,
Management, Medical Science, Social Sciences, Besides books on Literature, Philosophy and books
of interest for the children. The IIT Kharagpur community, Particularly the faculty and staff members,
the research scholars and students, not only buy books for their own use but also recommend books
for procurement by the central Library. The publishers get a very good opportunity to interact with the
IIT community directly through the Technology Book Fair.
The Technology Book fair also facilitates the meeting of the publishers with IIT Kharagpur authority
and central Library members to discuss and address the issues pertaining to smoother process of
acquisition of books for the Central Library.
Theme
While we expect the participating publishers and suppliers to bring textbooks and reference books in
the areas of Science & Technology ,Management , Medical Science, Social Sciences (details of
departments may be obtained from our institute website, address: www.iitkgp.ernet.in), we urge them
to also bring books in the areas covered under the mission programmes identified by IIT Kharagpur.
These mission programmes are Mechanized Food Engineering, Complex Engineering Systems ,
Molecular Biotechnology, Disaster Mitigation and Management, Manufacturing & Systems
Engineering, Biomedical Technology Natural Resources Management ,VLSI Design and Wireless
Technology Management and Control of Power Equipment and systems, Photonics, Electronic
Application in human Endeavors, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology , Rural Technology.
We also request the participants to bring books related to works of Nobel Laureates and Works of
celebrated Indian Scientists and Technologists and remarkable Classics to the 10 th Technology Book
Fair (10th TBF). Since the library has a good collection of reference and text books published up to
2013, publishers are urged to bring books published in 2011 and 2012 and those due for publication in
2014 in large number.
We also encourage the intending participants to bring books on literature, fiction ,philosophy, and
books of interest for the children, who usually constitute a large part of visitors to the Book Fair.
Business Expected
The annual budget for the Central Library now stands at Rs.5 Crore and the book grant for the teacher
of the institute comes to about Rs. 1.50 Crore. Further, many teachers buy books from funds available
in their projects. Besides, AICTE has recently taken up a special effort to instruct various AICTE
approved Engineering and Management Institutes in the Eastern Region to visit 10 th TBF and buy
books for their libraries. A conservative estimate of the expected volume of business at 10 th TBF is
over Rs. 6 Crore.
Participants
We invite reputed national as well as international publishers and leading publishing agencies to
participate in the Book Fair. We also invite vendors of other library- related software’s and
accessories to display their products in various exhibitions being planned as part of the Book Fair. We
expect the intending participants to look into the Central Library website
(http:/www.library.iitkgp.ernet.in/) to familiarize themselves with resources and activities of the
Central Library.

Charges for Participation
Registration Fee :- Rs 4000/-(Rupees four thousand only ) for one stall & Rs. 6000/- (Rupees Six
thousand only ) for two stalls ( includes Tea/ Coffee / Cold drinks, working lunch and evening snacks
for two persons; security , fire protection services , water , electricity and internal telephone services
at the Book Fair venue for all the four days). Late fee of Rs. 500/-(Rupees five thousand only)will be
charged for registration made after 1st January 2015.
Stall Setup Fee- Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only) per stall (with light and fan, furnished with
one table, two chairs and one book shelf)
Accommodation charges:- Limited number of accommodation is available in our institute
Guesthouses on payment and on first-come first serve basis. Accommodation can also be arranged in
nearby hotels and guesthouses.
