S.S./ Language Arts 6th Grade
Your report is going to have to be 5 paragraphs long. You will have an introduction, a
body, and a conclusion. It can be typed or handwritten. I have listed some topics to
choose from, if you want to come up with your own that’s fine, just clear it with me. You
are going to have to do some research for your report. I have listed some websites to
check out as well. You will be getting 2 grades on this report, 1 from me for S.S. and one
from Mrs. Simone for Lang. Arts.

1. The Afterlife: Belief in the afterlife, the underworld, and the journey of the soul
2. Mummies: Belief in the afterlife, the mummification process, and tombs
3. Pharaohs: King Akhenaten, King Tutankhamen, and Ramses the Great
4. Gods and Goddess: Choose three gods (Osiris, Ra, and Isis) or do the belief system, the
family tree, and worship

6. Egyptian Women: Women in society, the Pharaoh Hatshepsut, and Nefertiti or
Cleopatra
7. Hieroglyphs: Hieroglyphic writing, the Rosetta Stone, and famous Egyptian writing
8. Papyrus: Papyrus plant, papyrus uses, and making paper
9. Gifts of the Nile: The Nile river, plants of the Nile, and animals of the Nile
10: Egyptian Fashion: Make-up, Jewelry, and Hairstyles
11: Egyptian Medicine: Remedies, Operations, and Herbs
12: Egyptian Warfare: Battles, Tactics, and Weapons

Language Arts Requirements: Mrs. Simone’s Requirements
Your English textbook contains information on how to write a research report, textbook
pgs. 345-360. You will be graded on the following areas in Language Arts- if you read
section 18.2 DRAFT (pgs. 353- 356) this will help you organize your report: how to write
an introduction; plagiarism and copying; writing the conclusion. Read section 18.3
REVISE (pgs. 356-358): this will help you to revise your report. This is the rubric from
which I will be grading your research report. Use this as a checklist for your assignment.
Besides the 5 paragraphs, you will need to have a works cited page (bibliography) with 4
resources. I have included all of the information you need to include.
1. Book - Name of the book, Author’s name, Copyright Year
2. Internet – web address, date you looked at it
3. Encyclopedia – Name of encyclopedia, year
Also I am asking you have an illustrated cover for your report. It must include; your name, Title,
Period, and an illustration dealing with your topic.
