Important Upcoming Events

We will be doing an oral book report after spring break. We have discussed expectations in class and your child may have talked to you about it. On

Friday , April 10 , we will have a work day at school. Therefore, the book your child is reading will need to be completed by this date. The book should be one your student can read independently (although feel free to snuggle and read!). Please help your child decide on their book by Friday, March 13.

The work day will be a time for the children to work on their book report with Ms. Mueller and Mrs. Kuski’s help. It is helpful to have the book plan completed by this date as well. When your child reads, be sure to count the minutes on his/her reading calendar.

Students will have from 1:15-2:35 to work. Then, whatever was not finished at school will need to be finished at home. The final project will be due on Tuesday , April 7 . We will be presenting them on Tues. and Wed. of that week and parents are welcome to attend. More information coming… Happy Reading!

Hip-hip-hooray! Our reading goal has been met! Our reward, swimming, is scheduled for

Wednesday, March 11 . Bring your swimsuit and towel.

We are in the midst of our food and nutrition unit. We’ve talked about the food groups, health benefits of foods and some of the important nutrients our bodies need to function well. Our discussions have included the importance of following the pyramid. When we read the pyramid, we can see how many servings of food we should eat each day and the types of foods in each group. In addition, we are learning about combination foods:

Food that is made by putting together or combining foods from two or more food groups.

As part of the unit, I would like to have a pizza tasting on Friday, March 20 . It will be held in the classroom from 11-11:55 am. I am asking for volunteers to supply the pizzas.

If you are interested in sending one, please let me know via e-mail: kmueller @mosineeschools.org

, phone: 715-693-2810 ext. 1109, or jot a note in your child’s planner. The students will try the pizzas, predict the ingredients, discuss likes or dislikes, and state the food groups involved. I’m hoping to get a pizza of each type for the class. Some examples include: Hawaiian pizza. pizza with turkey pepperoni, cheese pizza with chicken, cold veggie pizza, cold fruit pizza, warm breakfast pizza, or a family favorite that is not listed. Thanks for considering this project.
