Complete grammar warmup #40 (pronoun/antecedents). Turn in warmups 36-40. 2. Huck Finn: In your reading circle, read “The Meanings of a Word” by Gloria Naylor (refer to webpage) silently. Then decide as a group whether you agree with the author that words themselves are harmless, but the meaning attached by certain groups to a particular word is what gives these words their power. Justify your position. How would you characterize her tone? Provide examples. What connections can you make to Huck Finn with this essay? 2. Discuss different examples of satire, using “A Liberating Curriculum” by Roberta Borkat as an example (refer to webpage) .
