Thursday, November 19th, 2015 English 11A AGENDA: 1. In preparation for upcoming TLI test, complete grammar warmup #36 (SAT Practice). 2. For quick write (5-10 minutes), Mark Twain chooses a 13year-old boy as narrator for his novel. In what way does this choice help to accomplish Twain’s purpose? Discuss the ways in which a young, innocent narrator can make a thoughtful statement about the hypocrisy of his society. Explain your answer. 3. Then pick one of those vocabulary words from Huck Finn to teach to the rest of the class, from which a vocabulary list will be compiled (see webpage). 4. Determine 1) three books that should be banned or included in the FMS 11th grade curriculum, and 3) why they should be banned or included (consider such issues as theme, relevance, language, school standards, reading level, etc.). Turn in when complete. 5. For more background about Huck Finn, watch Unchained Memories – Slave Narratives. HOMEWORK/UPCOMING DUE DATES: Next Huck Finn reading quiz (ch. 10-16) will be Tuesday, December 1.
