Welcome:
Welcome to this special place beneath the pines and sky on this most exceptional day in the lives of Whitney and Chad.
Just as the last days of summer fill your senses and warm your heart, so too are the feelings we all share for Chad and Whitney
as they unite today in the sacred trust of marriage.
(Bill to insert “When he first met Chad and later Chad & Whitney”)
Chad and Whitney, you are to each other what the earth and wind and seeds are to life. Just as the wildlife nourishes the soil
and stream, just as the stream and soil nourish the seeds of the trees that grow strong around us, just as the trees and plants
proved the air that we breathe, you are all nurturing to each other. Provide strength when you partner is weak, shelter when
your partner is cold, and love when your partner feels lost. Scatter the seeds of your love easily and with joy, encouraging each
other and those of us around you to grow with love.
Lighting of the Unity and Remembrance Candles:
I now invite the mothers of these two fine people up to light the Unity and Remembrance Candles. (Pause, let mother’s walk
up)
The Unity Candle symbolizing the unification of their two families and the Remembrance Candle to represent those who could
not be with us here today but are with us always in spirit.
Readings:
Susan D’Elia and Dina Casey
Marriage Address:
Chad and Whitney, today you commit yourselves to each other above your separate selves; to valuing your union above your
own interests; in doing so you will achieve a sense of peace and love not attainable otherwise. With this joy comes a profound
responsibility to each other.
As you enter into marriage, you do so with thought and reverence. You give thanks for the past, which has brought you to this
place and look forward with hope to what the future will bring. As you find union with each other, you proclaim that union
today and pledge to preserve it against what storms might come. We, by our participation in this celebration, recognize and
honor this commitment.
You are not only committing to your vows and your love today, you are committing yourselves to the love you’ll share
tomorrow and all the days after. Your marriage is not just made up of two people, but also includes your friends and your
families who have all in some way shaped you into the people you are, and guided your paths towards each other, and then
before me today.
And as your family and friends have lent their love and support to you as individuals, I call upon them that they should lend
that same love and support, without bias, to your marriage.
Whitney and Chad the love you have found together is rare and fragile. When there are difficult times, when you doubt the
validity of your love, bring yourself back to this very moment: You have chosen to walk one path together, to bridge the
differences between you with love. Remember to respect those differences; learn to understand them, for they are part of why
you came to love each other in the first place.
Statement of intent:
Groom, do you stand before me freely and without reservation, intent on having this woman as your wife? (I do)
Bride, do you stand before me freely and without reservation, intent on having this man as your husband? (I do)
Vows:
Although the sky is ever changing, although the old mountains are falling and new mountains are forming, there will be one
constant for you: your commitment to each other, formalized by your vows and symbolized by your rings, will be unchanging.
Chad Repeat after me:
“With this ring” “I pledge to you my unconditional love”
Whitney Repeat after me: “With this ring” “I pledge to you my unconditional love”
Conclusion:
Having publicly and formally affirmed your commitment to one another, by the authority vested in me by the state of NY, I
now pronounce you husband and wife.
Chad will you please seal your vow with a kiss for your wife?
