Grade 9 ELA: Poetry Presentation
In pairs, choose a poem from the options that you are going to teach to the class. You will
be required to explain the literary techniques and the theme of the poem.
You will create a brief Powerpoint presentation to explain your points. Your Powerpoint
should only be used to support your presentation and is not there to be read off of.
Your presentation should be 3-5 minutes long. All group members will share part of the
presentation. Refer to your list of literary techniques to help you decipher the meaning of
the poem you have chosen.
Options:
 “If” by Rudyard Kipling
 “Song for Naomi” by Irving Layton
 “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein
 “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost
 “The River” by Garth Brooks
 “We Wear the Mask” by Paul Lundar
 “Good People” by Jack Johnson
 “You Learn” by Alanis Morisette
