Job Description Lead Teacher: Music Responsible to: Director: The Arts Line Manager of: music tutors With SD: P.Arts & Skills Accountable for: - Raising standards of achievement and progress in Music for all groups of students - Lead manage and develop curriculum provision for Music to meet needs of all students - Lead, manage & develop quality of teaching in Music and learning to meet the needs of all students - Lead manage and develop quality of assessment, recording and reporting in Music - Lead, manage & develop intervention in relation to underachievement in Music - Lead, manage & develop safe and positive behaviour and attitudes to learning in Music for all groups of students - Lead, manage and develop positive attendance & punctuality in Music for all groups of students - Lead, manage and develop partnerships to enhance learning and progress within Music for all groups of students - Lead manage and develop e-learning strategy and practise to enhance learning experiences in Music - Lead, manage & develop resources and environment to ensure they promote improved outcomes for young people including music tutors Main Purpose of the Role: Play a major role under the overall direction of the headteacher & Line manager in: - Formulating the vision, priorities and objectives of Music - Establishing the policies, practise and provision under which they will be delivered - Managing staff and resources to that end - Monitoring progress towards their achievement Main Activities: Achievement & Progress: - Lead, manage and develop strategy and policies to ensure relevant attainment targets are met within Music - - Lead, manage and develop data management of student standards ensuring it is coherent and efficient within Music and is aligned with school systems Develop, monitor & review standards of student progress & achievement and application of school / department policies and strategies Leadership & management of response to data analysis in Music Management of recording and reporting within Music ensuring meets needs of all stakeholders and is aligned with school systems Oversee quality and impact of resourcing for interventions and strategically manage resourcing efficiently within Music in collaboration with SLT Learning & Teaching Lead, manage and develop a coherent vision and strategy for learning and teaching within Music Oversee the implementation of the strategy for Learning &Teaching ensuring quality of provision and commitment to school’s general principles, values and policy for L&T in Music Lead manage and develop quality assurance practise to ensure QL&T meets needs of all students in Music Lead, manage and develop vision and strategy for e-learning that is inclusive, diverse and supports the pedagogical vision for Music Quality assure the impact of e-learning in improving the learning experience and outcomes for all students in Music Lead, manage & develop the environment, resourcing and staffing to ensure improved outcomes for young people in Music Behaviour, Attendance & Care: Lead, manage and develop good behaviour & attitudes to learning in music ensuring students develop self responsibility and are safe Promote and quality assure that all staff are following policy for attendance & punctuality within music and support and develop where needed Promote the importance of attendance & punctuality in Music Assessment, Reporting and Recording Lead, manage and develop strategy for accurate assessment to inform practise and planning in Music Lead, manage and develop assessment strategy ensuring student and family engagement in learning in Music Lead, manage and develop quality assurance of assessment ensuring consistent response to meet the needs of all students in Music Lead, manage and quality assure marking in Music to ensure improves progress Music Tutors Lead, manage, develop & quality assure the use of music tutors to promote music and progress of KS4 and G&T students and the use of peripatetic staff General Leadership Responsibilities Leading, developing and enhancing the practice of others Maintain personal expertise and share this with others Act as role model of good classroom practice for other staff, modelling effective strategies with them Plan & implement strategies to improve areas of responsibility identifying areas for improvement. Disseminate examples of effective practice in relation to areas of responsibility Act as a model for school values Ensure the highest levels of supervision & care are maintained at all times Maintenance of discipline and good order in the school Contribute to Governors reports and attend governors meetings as appropriate Attend external meetings to represent the school and subjects as appropriate With Director: The Arts Monitor and evaluate the planning of other staff, providing constructive feedback on a regular basis Ensure that teachers aware of the needs of inclusion of all students and groups and make provision for this in their planning & practise working with all available partners & resourcing Ensure that feedback from observations, scrutinies and analysis of data is appropriately reflected in staffs’ planning & practise Observe colleagues and provide evaluative feedback of effectiveness
