The Chetwynde Hotel is situated on Abbey Road, Barrow in Furness. Built as a Victorian Gentleman’s
Residence, set in private gardens in the leafy suburbs, we are the perfect location for a civil ceremony or wedding
reception. We are committed to providing a friendly and professional wedding co-ordination service. On your
special day, you will have use of the entire first floor of the hotel, free of charge, including – our restaurant,
function room, two lounge bars, dance floor and gardens (should you party require them) as a party of 30 plus (we
are flexible dependent on overall numbers day and night). Our priority is making your day special – by providing
the best quality catering and excellent service in an elegant setting. Menus, décor and seating are all discussed
with you in detail as you plan your event, so we can ensure that your wedding party is a day to remember. We are
now licensed for civil ceremonies and vow renewals and our 2016 fee is £350.00 for May to September
Weddings and £200.00 for October to April Weddings.
Party Size and Function Rooms
All of our rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies and we can accommodate parties of up to 150 guests
(unseated) and 100 (seated, banqueting style). Your preferred seating plan will be discussed with you
on booking – many different table and room layouts are available. Our minimum booking number for
wedding ceremonies and receptions is 30 and we can guarantee you exclusive use of our restaurant,

Wedding Menus A and B
Our Wedding Lunches use the best quality, local ingredients. We provide a selection of options for
each course, and healthy portion sizes. Option A includes three courses with at £39.95 per person,
with 4 starter options, 4 main course options and 4 pudding options, with tea or coffee to finish. Option
B includes four courses, starter, fish or sorbet course, main and pudding plus coffee and petit fours at
£45.00 per person. Special options for children can be arranged and children under 11 are half price
when dining from Menu A and B. Variants on these menus can be discussed with us at your
appointment, to accommodate special requests and dietary requirements. 2017 prices are subject to
change.

Buffet Options for Evening Receptions
We offer a range of buffet options to suit both daytime and evening parties, from finger foods to meat
and fish platters. We offer several options from £5.95 upwards also offer a canapé option, tapas and
several hot buffet options. Our hot served buffet style foods include Traditional Pie and Peas / Hot
Pot, to Toulouse Sausage Casserole, Beef Bourguignon and Thai or Indian Curries, from just £8.95
per person. If you have any special requests or dietary needs, we will endeavour to tailor our menus to
suit your requirements. Special buffet prices for children are available – children under 5 dine at half
price. We can provide tailor-made buffet options from £5.95 per person. For further information, please
see the ‘Catering for Children section.’ Prices are subject to review in 2017.
Details to make your day special
We can liaise with you regarding room décor and the room plan, using our i-pad gallery of images, during
a series of consultations. A complimentary cake stand and bridal cake knife can be provided. Base
mirrors for floral displays are £2.00 and hurricane lamps with coloured sand are £3.00 each. We can hire
ornamental birdcages and enamel jugs for floristry at £3.25 per item. Prices are subject to review in
2017.

We offer a variety of welcome drinks, toast or to accompany your meal. Our wine list has an excellent range of
wines, with 19 bins, and we have three choices of House Red and White and two House Rose choices are
available. Packages can be tailor-made for you.

Guest Accommodation and Bridal Suite
We do not require any accommodation to be block booked as part of your wedding contract. All rooms
are available at special discounted rates – please speak to reservations to obtain a rate quote and
discount code. The Bridal Suite with Four Poster Bed is available to newlyweds using the hotel for
their function at a discounted rate of £90.00 for the room, including full English breakfast. Rates for
your wedding guests are discounted to £70.00 for a Standard Double (full price £88.00) or £85.00 for
a Superior Double (full price £110.00), both rates based on double occupancy and include full English
Breakfast). Special rates are also available for the Family Room and Single Room. Further discounts
are available for weddings in September – March, saving up to £25.00 per room. Our earliest free
check in is 14:00 – earlier arrivals from 12:00 are available for a £15.00 early check in supplement (must
be pre-booked). Any guests wishing to check in earlier than 12:00 would be encouraged to stay the
night before. Our Family Room is available from £105.00. For a discount code for your guests please

Parking
We have private, on- site parking for up to 40 cars.

Disabled Access
The hotel has an access ramp to enable easier access into the hotel lobby, and an adapted, accessible
loo. All of our ground floor function rooms, bar and lounge areas are fully accessible. Our patio and
orangery is also disabled accessible from the garden. We also have a fully adapted, ground floor,
disabled access room available in our new superior room development.
Catering for Children and Special Diets
The hotel has highchairs available, and can cater for children’s portions and diets. Children under 5 eat
for half price at a buffet. Half portions of Wedding Menu A and B are available at half price for
children under 11. Additional options for children are available on request. Children’s starters and
puddings are from £3.00 and Main Courses from £7.00. We can also cater for special dietary
requirements such as gluten free diets, vegetarians and vegans. Prices in 2017 are subject to change.
Gardens
Subject to weather, our hotel gardens, at the front of the hotel, are available for your party until 22:00. The
orangery / restaurant / function space opens onto a two tier patio with seating which leads onto out lawns. A
disabled accessible ramp is available for access via the orangery onto the patios. Garden games are available for
hire.

Entertainment, DJ and Dancefloor
We have a dance floor available in our Orangery for your evening entertainment, whether organising
your own entertainment or using our in house DJ. We use Tom Brownlee (formerly Speed of Light
Disco), and he charges £130.00 per night for a disco with a £20.00 karaoke supplement if required, booked
through us but paid direct, and available from 19:30 in the evening until midnight. All plugged in entertainment
(other than CDs) is subject to a £40.00 plug in fee. Due to our proximity to residential properties and in
consideration of our resident guests, we are regrettably unable to host live bands. Our bar is open until midnight.
Function Add Ons
We can provide signposting advice on a range of party services, such as balloons, cupcake catering, children’s
entertainment and floristry. We do allow sweet carts, but do ask that all sweets are individually wrapped, and
tongs and scoops are used. Photo booths are also allowed, with a £40.00 plug in fee.
Chair Covers and Sashes
Our cream chair covers re available for hire at £2.50 per cover and organza sash, which are ordered in to
suit your colour scheme or and £2.75 if including a satin bow.

Booking and Deposit
To book, we require a non-refundable, non transferable deposit of £500.00 and a short contract to be
signed. We cannot unfortunately ‘hold’ dates without a deposit. Your payment schedule will be
discussed prior to booking and is detailed on your contract.

Civil Ceremony and Vow Renewal Co-ordination Fees
Our fees for co-ordination and room hire in 2016 and 2017 for a civil ceremony or vow renewal is
£350.00 for May to September Weddings and £200.00 for October to April Weddings.
