1. Do a Bio Poem on one of the characters.
2. Do a character chart for:
Max, Kevin, Gram, Grim, Gwen, Killer Kane, Iggy, Loretta Lee. Character/Description /Symbol
3. Create a photo album of Max and Kevin's adventures by drawing six scenes from the book and
labeling each picture.
4. Pick 15 words from your vocabulary list. Fill out each page with the sentence definition,
synonym, antonym and a picture. Make a booklet with a cover.
5. Design a book jacket. Illustrate the cover. On the inside flaps, summarize the plot and include
author information.
6. Write another ending - minimum one page.
7. Imagine that you are a reporter for a newspaper. Write a newspaper story about Max's kidnapping
and rescue and describe the heroism of the participants. Include who, what, when, where, why.
8. Imagine that you are Max and that several years have passed since Kevin's death. Write Gwen a
letter and tell her what you learned from her son and how your relationship changed you. (one page
minimum)

Create a crossword puzzle using the words from Freak’s Dictionary.
10. Map a route of Freak and Max’s first quest.
11. Make an outline of Freak and Max’s growing friendship.
12. Research Freak’s disease: Morquio Syndrome.
13. Make a chart comparing and contrasting Freak and Max.
14. Write a debate between Freak and the principal about appropriate school behavior.
15. Make a scale drawing of Max and Freak’s neighborhood/town.
16. Write an editorial or opinion piece from the perspective of Freak or Max about whether
murderers should be released from prison.
