SYNOPSIS
A full-throttle, martial arts thriller, Lionsgate's WAR stars Jet Li (FEARLESS,
UNLEASHED, THE ONE) and Jason Statham (CRANK, THE ITALIAN JOB) as two
adversaries set on a violent collision course in the Asian mob underground. Produced by
Steven Chasman, Jim Thompson and Christopher Petzel, WAR is directed by Philip G.
Atwell from a script by Lee Anthony Smith and Gregory J. Bradley.
After his partner is brutally murdered by the infamous assassin Rogue (Jet Li), FBI agent
Jack Crawford (Jason Statham) vows to find the elusive killer and personally avenge his
partner's death. But Rogue proves untraceable until three years later when he resurfaces to
ignite a bloody turf war between Chinese mob leader Chang (John Lone) and Japanese
Yakuza boss Shiro (Ryo Ishibashi). Eager to capture Rogue once and for all, Crawford leads
his team of crime specialists headlong into the conflict. But Crawford's thirst for vengeance
jeopardizes his professional judgment, and as the violence escalates, Crawford finally comes
face to face with his enemy to discover that nothing about Rogue or his plan is quite what it
seems.

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
Set amidst the violence of America's Asian underworld, Lionsgate’s WAR is a highadrenaline action thriller that examines just how far one man is prepared to go to avenge the
death of his best friend. Crawford is a fallen FBI agent who is bent on revenge, and the man
he wants is Rogue – a killer with a hidden agenda and no loyalties, a ruthless, shadowy
assassin who seems to materialize at will, wreak havoc in a few silent seconds, and then
disappear again like a ghost…
WAR screenwriters Lee Anthony Smith and Gregory J. Bradley had been long time
Jet Li fans and disciples of the Asian-influenced action genre when they created the role of
Rogue, and they did so expressly to accommodate their screen idol. Many screenwriters write
scripts with particular stars in mind, but in this case, producer Jim Thompson actually
managed to get Smith’s and Bradley’s script to Li, who signed on to play Rogue.
“It's one of those rare occasions where the writers had a vision, they had one guy in
mind, and we actually made it happen,” says Thompson. “We got it to the guy that it was
intended for, and the movie actually happened with him in the part, which is rare.”
An international film star and world-renowned martial arts master, Jet Li first gained
notoriety in Asia as a martial arts competitor. His remarkable success in the field led to his
first starring role in Chang Hsin Yen's 1979 film, THE SHAOLIN TEMPLE, which instantly
turned Li into a martial arts screen star in Asia. The ensuing years have brought him a
worldwide following with the release of such films as FEARLESS, UNLEASHED, HERO,
and THE ONE.
Steven Chasman, who represents Li and acts as one of WAR's producers, says he was
surprised by Li’s strong endorsement of the WAR’s script. “When I first read it I didn't think
Jet would be interested because the character is really the antithesis of almost everything he's
ever played in a movie. But to my surprise he responded enthusiastically.”
-4-
“I’ve never played this kind of character before,” agrees Li. “I don't know whether
he's good or bad. I only know this character, who is very violent, has a reason for doing what
he does.”
A devout Buddhist, Li often seeks projects that reflect his philosophical ideals about
violence. He admits that he sometimes struggled with Rogue’s particular brand of ruthless
vengeance. “Even though I don't agree with what this guy does, I had to commit to it,” he
says. “When I went to the set, I had to forget I'm Jet Li first and be in that world. Then I’d go
back home and think, ‘Oh, why am I doing this?’ I’d have to remind myself that the character
is not me. It's somebody else.”
With Li on board for the title role, the producers turned their attention to casting
Rogue's nemesis, John Crawford, the police officer who risks everything to exact revenge.
“John Crawford is pretty much the driving force of the story,” explains director Philip
Atwell. “He's an FBI agent who, in a sense, has kind of gone rogue himself. And he's
enlisted himself to find the killer who took out his best friend and his best friend's family.”
The part of Crawford called for an actor who could handle extreme physical set
pieces as well as intense, emotional scenes; with his bulldog intensity and strong onscreen
presence, Jason Statham, known for films like CRANK and THE TRANSPORTER, was the
ideal candidate. Says Chasman, “He’s a great actor who also brings a lot more dimensions to
the role than just the physicality. He’s got it all."
Statham signed up immediately for the project, eager to work with Li again after
appearing alongside him in 2001s THE ONE. “I never got to fight him on that movie,” he
laughs. “Working with Jet Li and doing something with a much deeper storyline, a bit more
of a meaningful character for me to play and to actually come head to head with Jet and bash
it out was something I was deprived of previously."
Statham also reacted strongly to the multi-layered role of Crawford. “Crawford
becomes obsessed with seeking revenge on Rogue, trying to right the wrong that has
happened even though it's quite possibly out of his control,” explains the actor. “In the end,
he actually gets to accept what happened to his friend while exorcising a few of his own
demons.”
-5-
For both stars, the process of working together was uniquely rewarding. Says
Statham, “Li was just great to act with. You just look at his eyes and you've got a great, real
connection.”
“He’s a great actor,” says Li of his co-star, smiling. “He’s much better than me.”
With the stars in place, the producers approached Philip G. Atwell to helm the
project. Known for his music videos for rap stars Eminem and 50 Cent, Atwell's eye for
stylish, edgy visuals was considered a perfect fit for the raw intensity of WAR. States
Chasman, “Philip seems to really have his finger on the pulse of the audience.”
Production for WAR took place in Vancouver, where Atwell gathered a talented,
international ensemble cast, including John Lone (YEAR OF THE DRAGON, THE LAST
EMPORER), Terry Chen (ALMOST FAMOUS, SNAKES ON A PLANE), Luis Guzman
(PUNCH DRUNK LOVE, TRAFFIC, THE SALTON SEA), Nadine Velazquez (MY NAME
IS EARL, BIKER BOYZ) and Devon Aoki (SIN CITY).
Atwell’s most significant decision was to steer the script away from the florid, slick
visuals epitomized by the MATRIX films. “We still have a bit of a comic book style,” he
explains. “But the idea was to make a hard-core aggressive movie – as though these things
could happen in real life. I didn't want the audience to say, ‘Well, wait, how did he climb up
the wall like that?’ Stuntmen want to flip four times more than they really need to. And for
certain films I think that's great, but for WAR it was important to keep it grounded.”
Cory Yuen, arguably the world's best known stunt choreographer and a director in his
own right (THE TRANSPORTER, D.O.A.), teamed up with Li, Statham and Atwell to create
WAR’s realistic fight sequences and impressive stunts. “As much as Jet is a legend as an
onscreen performer, Cory is a legend as far as putting these fights together,” says producer
Christopher Petzel. “There are one or two household names in the world as far as action
choreography and Cory is one of them.”
“Jet Li is a martial artist,” says Yuen. “His moves are traditional martial arts yet cool.
Jason's style is more powerful and not martial arts or kung fu style. The styles are so
different, which is why I think the audience will like to see a fight between two of them.
That's why we're worked out the special fight at the end of the movie which is the climactic
action fight sequence.”
-6-
Atwell also enlisted cinematographer Pierre Morel, who had worked with both Li and
Statham on UNLEASHED and THE TRANSPORTER, to facilitate his vision. Atwell's lessis-more philosophy also set the tone for special effects artists Jason Ward and Ryan
Nicholson of Vancouver's Flesh and Fantasy Makeup Effects.
“When you watch movies and you see a guy get shot and a big blood pack goes off –
well, that's not how it happens in reality,” says Atwell. “I think there's more of an impact to
show how it really happens and have the actors respond in a real way. That’ll be as painful as
seeing a big blood spurt shoot across the screen.”
To ensure that the action scenes were as authentic as possible, Atwell also put his cast
through special weapons training sessions and police recruit boot camps. Says Sung Kang,
who plays Jade Squad sniper, Goi, “We learned how to hold a gun properly, how to enter a
building, how to cover the rear unit, basically what a SWAT team’s procedures are in terms
of staking out, holding the weapon, or firing the weapon.”
Despite all of this attention to detail, Li maintains that “in action movies the most
important thing is the story, not the fighting.” Statham agrees, and hopes that viewers will
become invested in Crawford’s hunt for Rogue. “Action for the sake of action doesn't carry
much weight,” says Statham. “WAR is a thinking man's action movie. The audience is going
to be on the edge of their seats thinking, ‘Are they going to get this guy? Is justice ever
going to come? Is this Rogue going to pay for all these wrongdoings?’ And then when they
finally find out, they’ll be taken totally by surprise.”

ABOUT THE CAST
JET LI (Rogue)
Born in Beijing, Li began studying the art of wushu (the general Chinese term for martial arts) at the
age of 8. After three years of extensive training, Li won his first national championship for the
Beijing Wushu Team. Jet Li's celebrity in China was so great, the government selected him to
represent the country in over 45 countries by performing martial arts at various state functions. The
most famous, in terms of history, was his 1974 performance on the lawn of the Whitehouse for
President Richard Nixon, after he had just reopened American diplomatic relations with China. For
the next five years, he remained the All-Around National Wushu Champion of China.
Shortly after retiring from the sport at the age of 17, he was offered many starring roles and
subsequently began on his film career with director Chang Hsin Yen for SHAOLIN TEMPLE. The
success of SHAOLIN TEMPLE propelled Li from a mere martial arts master to a full-fledged
Chinese movie star and celebrity almost overnight. His star shone so bright that almost any picture
with his name attached became an instant success. KIDS FROM SHAOLIN and MARTIAL ARTS
OF SHAOLIN, Jet's second and third films respectively, also enjoyed box-office success. Li was to
complete 25 successful Asian films before crossing over to America.
Since his first English-language film appearance as the villain in LETHAL WEAPON 4 opposite Mel
Gibson, Jet has appeared in films like ROMEO MUST DIE, THE ONE, KISS OF THE DRAGON,
and HERO.
After HERO, Li continued with projects such as CRADLE 2 THE GRAVE and UNLEASHED costarring Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins. In 2005 Li began work on what he said was the
culmination of his life-long experience with martial arts. FEARLESS, directed by Ronny Yu, is Jet
Li's last wushu film and has received considerable box office and critical success both in Asia and
around the world, including a "Best Actor" award from the Hong Kong Film Critics Association.
Li recently wrapped principal photography on the Chinese-language film TOU MING ZHUANG
(known in English as THE WARLORDS) with Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro.
Li is extending his fame to charitable causes. Already a Red Cross ambassador, Li recently
spearheaded and founded the Red Cross Society of China Jet Li One Foundation Project (One
Foundation), a foundation whose goal is to provide counseling to victims of natural disasters and to
help young people coping with mental health and psychological issues.
The One Foundation believes that “1 person + 1 dollar +1 month = 1 big family.” Says Li, “If each
person donates at least one dollar each month, our individual donations will be transformed into a
much greater fund. When we combine our charitable strength, we can make sure that the most
vulnerable members of our global family will receive the help they need right away.”
JASON STATHAM (Crawford)
Born in Sydenham, England, Jason Statham was one of the best divers on the British team. He placed
third in the Olympic trials on three different occasions, eventually placing 12 th in the world. While
training at the famed Crystal Palace National Sport Center in London, film crews and photographers
-8-
pursued him as new talent for commercials and print campaigns. One of those jobs was a French
Connection print ad where he met the owner of the company, who was also executive producer of a
film in preparation, LOCK STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. Jason had a meeting with
the director, Guy Ritchie, who gave him a role. He went on to work with Ritchie again in his next
film SNATCH, starring opposite Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro.
Next came TURN IT UP with US music star Ja Rule, followed by a role in the sci-fi film GHOSTS
OF MARS. Jet Li's THE ONE was Jason’s first collaboration with producer Steven Chasman, before
he joined Vinnie Jones in MEAN MACHINE for Guy Ritchie and producer Matthew Vaughn. In
2002 he was cast in the title role of Frank Martin in THE TRANSPORTER. He starred as Handsome
Rob in the summer 2003 blockbuster remake of THE ITALIAN JOB and as the adrenalinecompromised action hero of CRANK. His collaboration with producer Chasman has continued
through TRANSPORTER II and CHAOS. THE BANK JOB is their sixth film together.
JOHN LONE (Chang)
Three of John Lone's three recent films testify to the scope and diversity of his talent. In David
Cronenberg's film adaptation of the Broadway hit M BUTTERFLY, Lone starred in the title role as
the captivating muse who seduces and coerces a French diplomat, played by Jeremy Irons into
duplicity. In the 1994 release, THE SHADOW, Lone portrayed Alec Baldwin's nemesis, Shiwan
Khan, the last warrior descendent of Genghis Khan, who would stop at nothing to gain world
domination, much as the Shadow would do everything in his power to prevent him. In Jonathan
Lawton's 1995 release of THE HUNTED, Lone starred as a ninja in a haunting story of revenge and
pursuit set in contemporary Japan.
Lone catapulted to international attention with the title role in Bernardo Bertolucci's Oscar-winning
THE LAST EMPEROR. With a series of starring roles in feature films and two Golden Globe
nominations, Lone's artistry as an actor has been highly regarded by critics and audiences alike.
Lone made his theatrical film debut portraying a prehistoric man brought back to life in Fred
Schepisi's ICEMAN. He next played a suave and dangerous Chinese underworld kingpin in Michael
Cimino's crime drama THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON. His subsequent roles include that of an
enigmatic businessman/art collector living among expatriates in 1920's Paris, in Alan Rudolph's THE
MODERNS, and a Balinese dancer involved in an interracial love affair (with Wendy Hughes) in
Philip Noyce's ECHOES OF PARADISE. Lone was also responsible in helping to assemble an
international creative team for the independent feature films, SHADOW OF CHINA and
SHANGHAI 1920.
Lone was born in Hong Kong and became orphaned early on. He was sent, at an early age, to live
with a monastic like Beijing Opera company. Lone passed up the offer of a ten year contract to be
groomed as a star for the Hong Kong cinema establishment and instead chose to pursue his own brand
of artistic expression. This determination and a growing interest in Western culture led him to the
United States.
Lone's initial American success was in David Henry Hwang's play "FOB" at Joseph Papp's Public
Theatre in New York. His performance earned him an Obie Award and the serious attention of the
New York theater world. Hwang wrote his next play, "The Dance and the Railroad," specifically for
Lone. In this critically heralded production, Lone not only played the lead but also served as director,
choreographer and composer. After a successful theatrical run, his production was showcased on
television as part of the New York Shakespeare Festival/ABC Arts Productions. Lone made his
-9-

that he had directed for the New York stage.

runway model. From there she quickly segued into acting, rapidly becoming one of Canada’s most
prominent female actresses.
Her first big break in the States came when she was chosen to co-star with Sally Field in the Emmy
Award winning NBC mini-series “A Woman of Independent Means.” From there she has portrayed
characters opposite some of Hollywood’s sexiest men, John Corbett, Jim Caviezel and Rick
Springfield to name a few.
Roth teamed with Corbett in “Lucky” for FX as Amy a mysterious and secretive con-woman, a
scammer and a schemer who can never trust or be trusted. In New Line Cinema’s HIGHWAYMEN

was 5 years old. After a few commercials he was ready for the big screen with a great role in the
feature film WHITE NOISE where he had the pleasure of playing Michael Keaton’s son, the original
script called for two sons but as soon as Michael and the producer met Nicholas they changed the
script to only one son. After some more commercial work, Nicholas went on to appear in episodes of
“Masters of Horrors” and “The Dead Zone,” where he worked with Anthony Michael Hall. He has
also appeared in two more features and worked with more big name talent. In WHEN A MAN
FALLS IN THE FOREST he appeared with Dylan Baker. Nicholas is very excited about his next

the next feature from Larry and Andy Woschowski and stars John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, Emile
Hirsch, Mathew Fox and Christina Ricci. Nicholas will be playing the young version of the lead
character!! For children acting has to be fun but at the same time it is a wonderful educational
experience and Nicholas has learned so much. On THE VIOLIN he worked through the language
barrier with a Japanese production team and lead actor who spoke very little English and while
working on THE FLAVOUR OF LIFE he learned about world history. Nicholas has traveled to
Toronto and Calgary to work on commercials and while in Calgary he worked with a real live Bison.
His trip to Berlin promises to be quite an adventure in itself! Whatever comes next, Nicholas will be
ready for it and we can look forward to seeing lots more of him on TV and in Theatres.
STEPH SONG (Diane Lone)
February 2nd, 2003. Singapore’s New Paper reports, “If audiences are going to get stirred up over the
breakout star of 2003, it will be actress Steph Song.”
They weren’t far wrong.
Starring in a phenomenal nine television series and three features in Asia in just three years, her
sitcom “Achar!” (Mediacorp Television) was a winner at the 2005 New York Festivals for Best
International Situation Comedy, second only to NBC’s “Frasier”.
In 2006, she was voted, by Asian FHM readers polled on line, as “The Sexiest Women in the World
2006/ 2007”, with Kiera Knightley holding the number 1 spot in UK and Europe. She was also
named as one of the “10 People to Watch Out For” in Canada by Playback, Canada’s leading Film
and TV business newspaper and named by Entertainment Tonight Canada as one of the 10 Best
Dressed in 2006.
A rough and tumble tomboy at heart, Steph still finds the attention from her fans highly amusing.
Raised in remote Saskatoon, Steph returned to Canada in her breakthrough role as the female lead,
opposite Paulo Costanzo (NBC’s “Joey”) in the feature film “Everything’s Gone Green” (Think Film
/ First Look Entertainment).
Penned by social commentator / satirist / author Douglas Coupland (Generation X), “Everything’s
Gone Green” had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and won numerous
awards including the Audience Prize in the Edmonton International Film Festival and Best Western
Canadian Feature at the Vancouver International Film Festival. The film will be released in theaters
in the US and Canada in April 2007.
And before people start getting ideas that Steph can only play the sophisticated babe, along comes her
next role as a Cambodian village girl turned damaged prostitute in CBC’s gritty mini-series “Dragon
Boys” opposite Eric Tsang, Tzi Ma and Byron Mann.
She learnt Cambodian from scratch for the role, and can now add it to her list of languages which
include English, Hokkien and Spanish.
Steph has also just finished shooting the Pilot “J-Pod” for CBC.
- 13 -
Steph is a new breed of Asian actress. Eastern looks and soul, combined with the feistiness and
dedication to the craft born in the West. Once quoted as saying she’d “eat a homeless dwarf’s
toenails to work with David Lynch”, she is not without humility or humor.
With citizenships in Canada, Australia and a US green card, and residences in Singapore and Canada,
in Steph Song, you may just find the best of both cultures.

FURIOUS). Mr. Atwell was then hired by Jerry Bruckheimer to direct the second unit action
sequences on NATIONAL TREASURE, starring Nicolas Cage. Most recently Philip was given
the opportunity to direct an episode of the award winning hit drama, "The Shield."
LEE ANTHONY SMITH (Writer)
As a young boy growing up in the small town of Corbin Kentucky, Lee enjoyed going to the local
Drive-in to see dusk-to-dawn showings of his favorite movies. He especially liked Spaghetti
Westerns, Hitchcock thrillers, and James Bond films. He was so inspired that at twelve-years-old,
Lee bought a Super-8 movie camera and started making short films with his friends.
Later, Lee studied Theater Arts and Graphic Design at Eastern Kentucky University. After
graduating, he attended the Masters in Film Program at Columbia College, Chicago. There, he
started honing his skills as a screenwriter. “I soon realized that I had more ideas than money, and
since paper is a lot cheaper than film, I started writing.”
Meanwhile, he also directed and acted in several stage productions. He won the Gonzo Theatre
Award for Best Director and the Illinois Screenwriting Award for Best Screenplay (with cowriter, Robert Sherwin.)
Known for having a unique visual style, Lee was soon recruited by Renar Studios where he
continued to develop his skills as a graphic designer, storyboard artist and photographer. Always
athletic, Lee also trained for several years at the famed Degerberg Martial Arts Academy and
worked as a personal trainer in between acting jobs.
- 15 -
Eventually, Lee teamed up with fellow actor and filmmaker, Gregory J. Bradley, and they formed
their own production company, Virtuoso Entertainment. During this time, they worked in all
facets of film and video production, including writing a library of spec screenplays.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Lee and Greg have written and developed feature-film projects for
such production companies as Def Pictures, Signature, 360 Ent., USA Films, Franchise, Mobius,
and Lionsgate.
GREGORY J. BRADLEY (Writer)
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Greg brings a unique edge and wit to the material
he writes. It all began at a young age when he started writing and drawing his own comic books
which eventually evolved into the need to make movies.
After high school, Greg became interested in acting and studied theatre and film at Columbia
College, Chicago. After appearing in several college productions and short films, Greg stretched
his acting talents and studied improvisation at Chicago’s famous Second City and Improv
Olympics.
A huge fan of Bruce Lee and Hong Kong Cinema, Greg was inspired to pursue martial arts and
studied many forms, including Jun Fan and Wing Chun. Later, he would integrate much of this
knowledge and philosophy into the screenplays and stories he would write.
Knowing Greg’s reputation as a skilled actor and martial artist, another local filmmaker, Lee
Anthony Smith, asked him to take part in a martial arts film he was shooting. Realizing they both
had similar interests, they soon teamed up to form their own film/video production company,
Virtuoso Entertainment.
After building up a body of production work and spec scripts, Greg and Lee moved to Los
Angeles to pursue feature films. Since then, they have written and developed film projects for
such production companies as Def Pictures, Signature, 360 Ent., USA Films, Franchise, Mobius,
and Lionsgate. WAR is their first feature script to be produced. They are presently developing
new projects for major talent and looking to produce and direct in the future.
STEVEN CHASMAN (Producer)
Building highly successful careers for his clients through outside the box thinking is what Steven
Chasman does best. Whether in the worlds of film, television or sport, he is instrumental in
bringing the talents of artists to the public.
Following his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, Steven attended Emory
University Law School in Atlanta, earning his law degree in 1991. Initially drawn to the practice
of contract law, he worked for a few years in Washington D.C. & Baltimore, Maryland, at the law
firm Whiteford, Taylor & Preston.
However, the world of practicing commercial law was no match for the dynamic and interesting
world of entertainment. In 1993, Steven joined International Creative Management, a leading
talent agency. There, he worked as an agent, representing leading actors and directors, and
- 16 -
athletes. After six years at ICM, Steven’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to start Current
Entertainment.
Current Entertainment joined with Mosaic’s Atlas Entertainment to form ACE Media, LLC in
2006 a talent management and production company. Chasman is currently in post-production on
Lionsgate’s “The Bank Job” directed by Roger Donaldson, starring Jason Statham and Saffron
Burrows. He also produced Dimension’s “DOA: Dead or Alive” directed by Corey Yuen, Sony's
“The One” (2001) and “Chaos” (2004), as well as numerous films with award-winning filmmaker
Luc Besson including “Transporter 2” (2005), which holds the record for the biggest Labor Day
opening of all time, “Unleashed” (2005), “Taxi” (2004), “The Transporter” (2002) and “Kiss of
the Dragon” (2001). Chasman produces movies under the Mosaic banner for himself and his
clients and partners with Charles Roven.
While producing “The Transporter” in France, Steven had the good fortune to meet French film
actress NADIA FARES. They quickly fell in love and were married shortly there after.
Together, Steven and Nadia made their most important “productions” to date, their daughters
SHANA LEELEE CHASMAN, born on October 16th, 2002 and CYLIA MARTI CHASMAN,
born October 14th, 2005. Steven, Nadia, Shana, and Cylia currently reside between Los Angeles
and Paris.
CHRISTOPHER PETZEL (Producer)
Christopher Petzel is the CEO of Fierce Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based production company
he founded in early 2001. Since the firm’s inception, he has produced or executive produced
seven feature film and television projects in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia,
Italy and Canada.
In addition to its creative development and production activities, Fierce Entertainment represents
a number of foreign distributors and financiers and advises on territorial rights acquisitions, film
financings and corporate transactions. More details can be found at www.fierceentertainment.com.
Before founding Fierce Entertainment, Christopher was a member of Houlihan Lokey Howard &
Zukin’s entertainment investment banking practice, where he advised The Walt Disney
Company, Axel Springer Verlag, DreamWorks SKG, Pacific Data Images, Landscape
Entertainment, Sundance Productions, Constantin Film AG, VCL Film + Medien AG, Castle
Music, Centropolis Effects, EM TV, the Kirch Group and others.
Christopher has lectured extensively on film production and financing at various institutions,
including the American Film Institute, the University of Southern California, the University of
Berlin, the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, the University of North London, and the Swiss
Forum of Communications Law.
Prior to moving to Los Angeles in early 1999, Christopher worked for the media finance
department of Berliner Bank AG (London Branch), where he was responsible for the marketing,
analysis and structuring of project loans and secured corporate debt for film, television and video
game industries.
Christopher began his career at Goldcrest Films International, where he served as a sales
executive and executive assistant to the CEO. He studied business administration at the
- 17 -
Universities of Barcelona (Spain) and Fribourg (Switzerland), where he graduated summa cum
laude, ranking number one in a class of over 400. He is fluent in German, English, French and
Spanish.
JIM THOMPSON (Producer)
Jim Thompson is the principal at Original Content, a management/production company that is
dedicated to the careers of both writers and directors.
Jim started his career as a professional dancer working on Broadway, and in such films as
XANADU, ONE FROM THE HEART, and STAYING ALIVE just to name a few. He also
worked on many music videos, most notably, the award winning “Material Girl, by Madonna.
After hanging up his dance shoes, Jim discovered a proclivity for writing and he never looked
back. His first produced script, “Summer’s End” starring James Earl Jones was nominated for
four Emmy’s, including Best Screenplay. His film EVER DOG HAS ITS DAY which he wrote
and produced was a favorite at many indie festivals, including Slamdance. After years of
working as a screenwriter Jim’s interests broadened from writing to development and production,
which is when he started his company, Original Content, five years ago. OC’s client base has
grown since then and so have their successes.
OC is going into production later this year with two films, COUNTERPOINT written & directed
by client Michael Konyves and THE LOST COAST to be directed by JB Sugar. Jim also just
completed post-production on the documentary film, DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH: A
UGANDAN HIP-HOP REVOLUTION.

A leader in the booming market for DVD and video sequels to theatrical features, Elliott
produced CASPER: A SPIRITED BEGINNING, which became and remains the best-selling nonDisney video of all time, and was honored as the VSDA’s Video of the Year. Elliott has
developed and produced sequels for most major studios, including top selling sequels to the films
ADDAMS FAMILY, RICHIE RICH, TIMECOP, BEETHOVEN, TURBULENCE, and
AMERICAN PIE. His sequel to THE PRINCE & ME was honored at this year's VSDA as both
Family Title of the Year, and Rental Title of the Year, from an independent studio. He is
currently posting a sequel to WAR GAMES and prepping another sequel to THE PRINCE & ME.
Prolific in the world of cable features and television movies, Elliott also produced the original
cable movie, AU PAIR, which remains the highest rated movie in the twenty seven year history
of the ABC Family Channel. His other number one rated cable movies include THE MICHAEL
JORDAN STORY, THE COWBOY AND THE MOVIE STAR, HOME FOR CHRISTMAS,
THE ELIAN GONZALEZ STORY, and AU PAIR II. AU PAIR III is currently in production.
His series credits include “Instant Comedy,” for F/X, which ran for 65 episodes. He recently
produced a one hour television pilot, “Wifey,” which has just been greenlit to series as a coproduction between VH1 and B.E.T.
Elliott develops, packages, finances and produces film and television projects through his Los
Angeles based production company, Capital Arts Entertainment. Founded in 1994, Capital Arts
enjoys a reputation as one of the leading independent production companies in the world. Elliott
is also an owner/partner in Push, a Los Angeles-based distribution company that handles some of
Capital Arts' product, and also acquires and sells independent features worldwide.
A magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University, Elliott has guest lectured there and at other
colleges, including Columbia University, New York University, UCLA and USC.
He has been a member of the board of directors the Independent Producers Association, the
production arm of the IFTPA, and the Groundlings Theatre in Los Angeles. He grew up in
Oregon and lives in Los Angeles, California.
PIERRE MOREL (Director of Photography)
Pierre Morel, French, Paris based, Director of Photography, entered the camera department after
film school as a camera assistant. He very soon became a camera and steadicam operator,
participating in numerous TV shows, commercials and movies, frequently involved with
American productions shooting in France and Europe. After a few years, he simultaneously
started directing photography.
His meeting with Luc Besson was the beginning of a regular collaboration and a turn in his
career.
- 19 -
After operating camera and steadicam on THE MESSENGER and on the French action comedy
TAXI, it is Luc who gave him the opportunity to DP his first feature film, THE TRANSPORTER
starring Jason Statham.
Two years later, he assumed cinematography on UNLEASHED starring this time Jet Li.
Once again under Luc Besson’s Impulsion, Pierre Morel has recently left his cinematographer’s
carrier to become a Director. His first movie DISTRICT B13 was released last years and elected
by TIME Magazine in the Top 10 movies.
He is currently directing TAKEN, starring Liam Neeson.
CYNTHIA SUMMERS (Costume Designer)
Without a doubt, Cynthia Summers has made an impact on the design world. She has built an
incredible repertoire over the years as a costume designer, beginning her career in theatre and
dance (both on and off stage); not before her flare and passion got noticed by the world of film.
Her career which is largely based out of LA, and Vancouver BC, has spanned the globe as she
brings Italian and European inspiration to life through her work.
Her work includes a broad spectrum of historical and alternative productions such as, “The Dead
Zone” and “Andromeda”. It all began when acclaimed director Mina Shum, approached her to
design a small independent film, DOUBLE HAPPINESS starring Sandra Oh. Since then, she
continues to innovate and impress with up and coming films such as, WHILE SHE WAS OUT
with Kim Basinger.
Her designs have taken us to Amsterdam during World War II, in the stage production “The
Diary of Anne Frank.” She has also transported us to Vietnam, Afghanistan, Japan and turn of
the century America. An MOW, “The Life of John Denver” spanned decades of Folk Rock
Fashion.
Cynthia is widely known for her work on “The L Word,” starring Jennifer Beals and Pam Grier.
“The L Word” for years has defined a fashion genre. In a quote from an interview with Italian
Elle ‘If “Sex and the City” has influenced the east coast, “The L Word” with Cynthia has defined,
and will continue to do so, the west coast.’
Cynthia won the Hollywood Style award for Most Stylish TV show, which is not at all surprising
considering her ability to interpret a script, and adapt her style to create a formidable finished
product.
As a member of the Costume Designer’s Guild of Los Angeles, and IATSE 891, 892 Cynthia
Summers’ many accomplishments are simply the tip of the iceberg.
CORY YUEN (Martial Arts Choreographer)
Cory Yuen has more than 30 Hong Kong feature releases to his credit, and has mastered every
aspect of filmmaking, either as director, star, writer, producer or action choreographer. His first
U.S. project was the hit action comedy LETHAL WEAPON 4 in which he served as martial arts
choreographer. He also served as martial arts choreographer in ROMEO “Romeo Must Die,”
- 20 -
starting Jet Li. Additionally, Yuen directed second unit for Twentieth Century Fox’s science
fiction action film “X-Men.” His first English language directed film was the hit action film “The
Transporter” for Twentieth Century Fox.
An alumnus from the prestigious Chinese Opera Academy, Yuen was one of the Seven Little
Fortunes, a performing troupe that included fellow classmates Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung.
Buy the late 70s, he and the others had all gravitated toward film. For the next two decades Yuen
was involved in some of the most popular films ever produced in Hong Kong, including “The
Black Rose,” “Mahjong Dragon,” “High Risk,” “My Father is a Hero,” “The Bodyguard from
Beijing,” “Fong Sai-Yunk I and II,” the latter four starring Jet Li; and the critically acclaimed “So
Close” for Columbia Asia.
Most recently Yuen’s work includes martial arts choreographer on “The Transporter 2” and his
second English language directorial effort in “DOA: Dead or Alive.”
