Case Book Play: Member A1 was in Division 4 at the time of the implementation of the C-A-R classification
system and was classified as Approved under the C-A-R system. He has no game records of his prior officiating
experience. In what Division will he be?
Ruling: Division 3. In transitioning from the C-A-R system to the Division system, A1 will get 189 points (63 points
x 3 years based on his Approved classification) for the three years of the C-A-R system. Those points will be
added to 187, which represents the mid-point of Division 4, his former Division classification. A1 now has 376
points, placing him in Division 3. In the event A1 had documentation of his games worked and educational points
for the three years of the C-A-R system, those actual points would be added to the 376 points for determination
of his membership classification.
