On Saturday 25 February I received the news that my father had passed away. He had died suddenly at home. Over the next few days, I quickly made arrangements to fly to Australia.
On Friday 2 March my wife and I arrived in Australia. Over the next couple of days, I wrote a speech to read at the funeral. The funeral took place on
Wednesday 6 March.
Over the next few days we had meetings with the solicitor, Dad's accountant, and Dad's GP.
An important task was to ensure Mum would continue to be looked after. One thing I did was to arrange for her bills to be paid by direct debit.
Before coming back to the UK, my wife and I planted two lavender plants on
Dad's grave.
My wife came back a couple of weeks ago. I got back on Friday.
