Good vs. Evil
For as long as there have been human beings, evil has existed. In fact, oe of the oldest themes
in literature is Good vs. Evil where the hero defeats the villain and peace is restored to the land. The
story of Beowulf was the first piece of recorded literature in British history. Throughout our study we
have explored the theme of Good vs. Evil. Your task now is to write an expository essay where you
explain this theme in the story of Beowulf, and then connect to an example in today’s society.
Paragraph 1
- Topic sentence: Introduce how the theme of good vs. evil is present in both literature and our
current society
- brief background information on the story Beowulf
- brief explanation of the battle between good and evil in the story
- introduce your example of good vs. evil in our society
- thesis: Explain how the theme in Beowulf connects to your example of evil in society
