Letter to a Movie Producer Book Response
Book Title:______________________________ Author: ______________________
Directions: Imagine that you are the author of the book you have just read.
Write a letter to a movie producer trying to get that person interested in
making your book into a movie. Follow the business letter format (see the
back of this paper for an example). The following is a list of things you must
include, but feel free to add any additional information that would persuade
the movie producer to turn your book into a film!
 Tell the producer about yourself (as the author!) and explain the reason
you are writing him/her a letter. (Hint: research a little bit about the
author to make what you write real.)
 Tell the producer the title of your book and give a brief summary of
the book.
 Explain any problems or conflicts that occurred in the book. The
producer will also need to know about the climax of your story.
(Conflict is what makes a movie interesting!)
 Write to the producer about the characters in your book. Who are the
main characters? What character traits stand out in each of the
characters? Why would someone want to watch these characters
perform in a movie?
 Explain the setting of your book and why this setting would be an
interesting place for a movie.
 Briefly explain/restate why your book would make a good movie.
 Write your name and date on the back of the letter.
***YOU MAY ONLY USE BOOKS WHICH HAVE NOT ALREADY BEEN MADE
INTO MOVIES.***
