The Field Museum
For my essay on the Field Museum, I will be talking about the Ancient Americas,
Tutankhamen, and Pompeii. The field museum has an interesting exhibit on the Ancient
Americas and a very good one on Pompeii. The one on Tutankhamen is also very good.
I liked the Ice Age part of the Ancient Americas exhibit where you
can view some picture of the Ice Age. You may also read the overview about the Ice Age,
where I learned that the most recent Ice Age began 2 million year ago and lasted tile
11,000 years ago. Archeologist have many different points of view on where the first
“Americans” can from but they do know that do know that they where modern for there
time as are we. A Ice Age actually has two parts. Part one is the glacial part. The second
part is the interglacial part.
I did like the exhibit on Tutankhamen. The had interesting information on “The
Curse of the Pharaohs.” I learn that Lord Carnarvon died with in six months of opening
Tutankhamen’s tomb. So that is how the story started on that on. Life for the people in
that time centered around the Nile river. Women in that time where mostly like women
today. They were able to own property and could talk for themselves in society.
I also visited the Pompeii exhibit of the Field Museum. There where cast made
of the humans that where buried by the ash. Did you know the Pompeii was said to be a
large city for a long time? Pompeii was a center for trading crops and goods. Some
people had decided to leave the city at the first site of volcanic material in the sky that
afternoon but most of everyone stayed. In the morning a round 7:30am the final surges
hit and at 8:00am the volcano erupted. Everything was either swept away or buried in the
hot ash and lava. But scientist have uncovered most of the once city.
So that is my essay on the Field Museum. I talked about the Ancient America, and
Tutankhamen, and Pompeii. I enjoyed talking about them and would suggest to you to
visit them also. There are many other interesting exhibits that are at the Field Museum,
and that I could talk about but I have chosen to talk about these three topics in my essay
on the Field Museum. One topic that I would has liked to talk about is chocolate, because
almost everyone loves chocolate. Right? I who have liked to had the chance to look at the
pearl exhibit. Because pearls are very interesting. So I hope you liked my essay on the
Field Museum.
