DIVISION AWARDS
The DECA Professional Division Awards recognize individuals for outstanding and significant contributions toward the development and progress of DECA Inc. The DECA Professional Division
Awards provide the opportunity to recognize dedicated supporters from the local to international
level to further DECA Inc.’s mission of preparing emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management at the international level.
All Professional Division Awards recipients will be featured on the DECA website.

HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD
ELIGIBILITY
Honorary Life Membership is DECA’s highest award. Persons eligible for this award must be marketing or business education personnel who have added significantly to the development and/or
progress of DECA at the international level for a minimum of 20 years of service to the organization.
Only under unusual circumstances can more than two such awards be presented in any one year.
Other individuals may be considered who are not marketing or business education personnel and
have supported DECA at the international level in a significant way for a minimum of five years, and
from whom DECA may reasonably expect continued support of its activities.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Step 1: Nominate Candidate for Professional Division Award
Nominees are recommended by a chartered association and then approved by an appropriate
DECA committee and board of directors.
Notify DECA Inc. of the eligible candidate you wish to nominate for the Professional Division
Award by completing the official nomination form on page 4. Submit the form by
November 1, 2014 to Michelle Walker via email at michelle_walker@deca.org.
Step 2: Complete Professional Division Award Application Packet
Provide documentation of the candidate’s outstanding and significant contributions to DECA
Inc. The award application packet must include the following documentation:
•Résumé (three pages maximum)
•One-page biography that highlights key contributions and achievements which have advanced
the mission of DECA and marketing or business education at the international level.
•Three letters of recommendation in support of the candidate as a DECA Inc. award recipient.
•Two high resolution electronic professional portraits (executive headshot)

OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD
ELIGIBILITY
The Outstanding Service Award is one of DECA Inc.’s most prestigious awards. This award recognizes marketing or business education personnel who have rendered distinguished contributions
to further the mission of DECA Inc. at the international level for more than five years.
Other candidates are marketing or business education personnel who have left the profession
but continued to support and provide outstanding contributions toward DECA’s success on the
international level for a minimum of five years and from whom DECA may reasonably expect continued support of its activities.
The combined number of annual awards for the High School and Collegiate DECA divisions shall not
exceed ten.

ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
DECA Inc. invites you to submit nominees for our annual Association Administrator of the Year Award.
There are many outstanding administrators who exemplify quality leadership and contribute to the success of students through their support of DECA. This is your opportunity to recognize an administrator
for his or her creativity and innovation in promoting DECA within his or her school, district, college, and
community.
ELIGIBILITY
Any school, district, college, or state administrator who has demonstrated outstanding support of DECA’s
mission may be nominated. Chartered associations will accept nominations from DECA members, chapter
advisors, association advisors, campus administrators, superintendents, and CTE administrators.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Each candidate will be evaluated on the following criteria:
Advocacy
•Advancement of DECA’s mission and guiding principles
•Sharing DECA’s successes with other educators, parents, business community, and students
•Promotion of DECA programs and activities within the wider learning community
Involvement
•Being an active supporter of DECA
•Rewarding initiative by participating in the recognition of DECA member accomplishments
•Creating opportunities to improve student achievement using DECA learning programs
Learning
•Acquiring information to aid in communicating to others the role DECA plays in preparing the next
generation
•Encouraging integration of DECA into the classroom by using DECA’s Comprehensive Learning Program to enhance student learning
•Providing opportunities for chapter advisors to participate in DECA professional development to enhance teaching and learning

NOMINATION PROCEDURE
Step 1: Each nominator will complete and return the official nomination form and portfolio to their DECA
chartered association by the deadline. The portfolio consists of documentation representing the
nominee’s outstanding and significant contributions to DECA Inc. and must include the following:
• Personal statement including a brief description of the administrator’s role within the local and/
or association DECA program. The statement should highlight leadership activities undertaken
to promote and build DECA within the community. Attach documentation, such as newspaper
or magazine articles if available.
• Biography (200 words maximum) providing relevant professional accomplishments and personal
involvement with the local and chartered associations, which have advanced the mission of DECA.
• Three letters of recommendation in support of the candidate as a DECA award recipient from current and former DECA members, chapter advisors, colleagues, parents, and community leaders.
Upon notification and acceptance of award, selected candidate must also provide:
• Résumé (two page maximum).
• One high-resolution electronic professional portrait (executive headshot).
Step 2: Chartered associations will choose and notify their selected Administrator of the Year recipient
by the date determined by the chartered association.
Step 3: Chartered associations will submit a copy of the Association Administrator of the Year recipient’s
portfolio in its entirety to DECA Inc. Portfolio information will be utilized for award recognition via
the DECA Inc. website, press release and other appropriate recognition.
The copy of the portfolio must be submitted by March 21, 2015 to Michelle Walker at

CHAPTER ADVISOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
DECA Inc. invites you to submit nominees for the Association Chapter Advisor of the Year Award. There are many
outstanding advisors who exemplify DECA’s prestigious award for chapter advisors. The Association Chapter Advisor of the Year Award recognizes excellence in integrating DECA’s Comprehensive Learning Program into classroom
learning. This is your opportunity to recognize a DECA chapter advisor for his or her creative and innovative strategies that incorporate DECA to support student learning and achievement.
ELIGIBILITY
Any current, dues-paying DECA chapter advisor who has demonstrated implementation of DECA as an integral part
of classroom instruction and extended learning is eligible. Chartered associations will accept nominations from DECA
members, chapter advisors, campus administrators, superintendents, and CTE administrators.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Recipients of DECA’s Association Chapter Advisor of the Year Award play an active role in their school and community and remain posed, articulate, and energetic in the face of a taxing schedule. Specifically, recipients demonstrate
excellence through the following:
Integrate Into Classroom Instruction
•Implement DECA as an integral part of classroom instruction and extended learning activities
• Prepare members for colleges and careers
• Advance DECA’s mission and guiding principles
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of curriculum—provides a variety of marketing, management, finance, or
hospitality concepts utilizing DECA’s Comprehensive Learning Program
Apply Learning
• Creatively inspire students to take on new challenges and reach their full potential using DECA learning programs
• Encourage students of varying backgrounds and abilities to learn
• Demonstrate leadership in educational and co-curricular activities at the school, state and international levels
• Support chapter membership
Connect to Business
• Promote DECA programs and activities within the wider learning community
• Provide DECA members realistic insight into industry and promote meaningful, relevant learning
• Connect with programs in the community, integrate new technologies, and utilize outside resources
•Communicate with and include parents and the community in planning and implementation of instruction and
DECA activities
Promote Competition
• Drive DECA members to excel and improve their performance
• Develop activities that enhance student knowledge to apply learning in a variety of ventures

DECA CHAPTER ADVISOR AWARD
The DECA Chapter Advisor Awards recognize outstanding chapter advisors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and exemplary commitment and dedication to DECA,
education and the students they serve. The recipient is recognized at the association’s career
development conference.
Each chartered association of DECA will recognize any DECA chapter advisor who is actively
involved in DECA activities. Approved DECA activities with associated point values are provided.
Chartered association advisors are permitted to add items that are unique for that association’s
DECA programs and career cluster instructional activities.
To earn the Outstanding DECA Chapter Advisor Award, an advisor must earn a minimum of 125
points. For the 2014–2015 school year, points begin to accumulate at the 2014 association career
development conference and end at a time designated by the chartered association advisor before the 2015 association career development conference. Point totals may be adjusted at the
discretion of the chartered association advisor.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Submit Outstanding DECA Chapter Advisor awardee names by January 23, 2015, if possible.
Chartered association advisors will notify DECA Inc. of the qualifying DECA chapter advisors’
names not later than 4 weeks before the association’s career development conference in order for
the award to be sent for distribution at the association conference.
DECA chapter advisors who accumulate the required number of points will submit a brief application to the chartered association DECA advisor documenting each activity.
RECOGNITION
Recipients receive:
•The Outstanding DECA Chapter Advisor Award certificate from DECA Inc.
•The Outstanding DECA Chapter Advisor Award pin from DECA Inc.
•Recognition at the association CDC

DECA CHAPTER ADVISOR AWARD
The DECA Chapter Advisor Awards recognize outstanding chapter advisors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and exemplary commitment and dedication to DECA,
education and the students they serve.
The Outstanding New DECA Chapter Advisor Award recognizes DECA chapter advisors with
three (3) years of service or less. Each chartered association of DECA will recognize any new
DECA chapter advisor who is actively participating in DECA programs. The nomination by chartered associations is based on significant advisor contributions to DECA chapter innovation and
professionalism. Each association determines its own selection criteria. The maximum number of
awards per association is ten.
SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Submit Outstanding New DECA Chapter Advisor awardee names by January 23, 2015, if possible.

YEARS OF SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD
DECA appreciates the continued efforts, commitment and dedication of advisors to chapter
members. The Years of Service Recognition Award recognizes chapter advisors for their years of
service as DECA advisors.
YEARS OF SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARD
Chapter advisor service is recognized in 5-year increments based on the DECA chapter advisor
years of service listed on the DECA chapter roster. The years of service as a DECA advisor in the
membership system is electronically updated annually as long as the chapter advisor has continued service.
RECOGNITION
The awards for 5 to 35 years of service are sent to the chartered association advisor for presentation to the recognized advisor at the association’s career development conference. Chapter and
chartered association advisors with 40 and 45 years of service are recognized during the DECA
International Career Development Conference. Recipients will also be featured on the DECA Inc.
website.
Recipients with 5 to 35 years of service receive:
•A lapel pin depicting the years of service
•The Years of Service Recognition Award certificate
from DECA Inc.
Recipients with 40 and 45 years of service receive:
•A congratulatory letter from DECA Inc.
•The Years of Service Recognition Award plaque
from DECA Inc.
