Decimal, Fraction and Percent Magic Squares Tools: • Copy of Magic Square board Equipment check: • Copy, laminate and cut the board apart. Give one set of squares to each group of students. Start your engine: • This Magic Squares board is a 3 by 3 square. • The squares need to be sorted by the students into three categories. - Squares that have writing on two sides. - Squares that have writing on three sides. - Squares that have writing on four sides. • The object of this activity is to line up decimals, fractions or percents. There will be no writing along the outer edges of the square. • The two-sided squares are the corners and the three-sided squares are the edges. • The four-sided square is the middle of the board. Finish line: • When the board is put together correctly, each decimal, fraction or percent is beside an equivalent form of the same amount.
