EXPECTATIONS

Students will begin to be able to
write with an opening (focus)
sentence.

Students will have three detail
sentences for their topic (support
or elaboration).
POINTS
0=no opening sentence
2=adequate opening
3=creative opening
1=less than three detail sentences
2=three detail sentences
3=more than three detail sentences

Students will use phonetic
spelling to write independently
(c-v-c pattern
evident, beginning to use long
vowel, v-c-e, pattern).
0=little or no evidence of
phonetic spelling
1=some evidence of phonetic
spelling
2=good use of phonetic spelling
for unknown words

Students will spell simple words
and known sight words correctly.
0=does not write simple words/
known sight words correctly
1=writes some simple words
and sight words correctly
2=writes simple words and all
Known sight words correctly
