Ballroom of Joys and Sorrows Calling all children who love to dance! All you need to bring is yourself, an open mind, creativity and passion. The project is FREE to participate in. Ballroom of Joys and Sorrows is a new intergenerational performance project, exploring how dance can celebrate rites of passage. In collaboration with composer Adriano Adewale, director and choreographer Kate Flatt will draw on traditional English folk dance and global social dances to create a spectacular production with a cast of professional and non-professional dancers. Kate Flatt is a highly experienced choreographer who has worked on projects ranging from the original musical staging of Les Miserables to intimate dance theatre pieces. The performance will be staged in Greenwich Dance’s beautiful Borough Hall and is presented in partnership with Watford Palace Theatre and The English Folk Dance and Song Society as part of Big Dance 2012. We are now looking for children to get involved and perform in the project!
