1. What is the difference between an online and an on-site (live) class?
On-site courses are taught live in a classroom with the professor lecturing. On-site courses
generally meet once per week for 12 to 13 weeks, and students in the on-site courses must be
present to attend class in the Philadelphia area.
Online courses have been adapted from our live courses, but students participate through a
virtual campus using a computer and internet connection. Students will watch/listen to a lecture,
interact with others through a community board, and complete weekly readings and assignments.
Most of the projects and examinations are the same for both the on-site and online courses.
Online courses run for 12 to 14 weeks.
Hybrid courses are a combination of our online and on-site courses. Hybrid courses utilize videos
from the online virtual campus, but students also meet live for a portion of the class (i.e., you
must be present in the Philadelphia area to participate).
2. When does the next semester begin?
Our on-site semesters begin in January, February, and September. Please see our Registration
page for the official start date of our next semester.
3. When is the registration deadline?
Please see our Registration page for the registration deadline of our next semester.
4. I missed the registration deadline! Can I still register for a course?
We occasionally permit late registrations for our on-site courses, depending on availability.
Please contact Carly Robinson (crobinson@ccef.org) for more information.
5. What is the difference between credit and audit?
Credit students complete weekly assignments and receive graded feedback. They are also
eligible to earn CCEF certificates representing a completed course of study.
Audit students have the freedom to attend class lectures and complete reading and writing
assignments at their own pace throughout the semester. However, auditors do not submit any
work for grading. While we encourage auditors to participate in classroom discussions, auditors
are not required to attend small groups in Helping Relationships. Audited courses do not count
towards a CCEF certificate.
6. What is the price for an on-site course?
$560 for a 3-credit course; $375 for a 2-credit course. Hybrid courses include an additional $40
technology fee. You can audit courses for 50% off. These fees do not include required textbooks.
At this time, students are not able to audit Counseling Observation and Essential Qualities of a
Biblical Counselor.
7. Do you offer financial aid or discounts?
CCEF is unfortunately not able to offer any scholarships or grants. However, we do have special
discounts available for families and church groups of four or more.
Family members living in the same household and who take the same class for credit within a
year may receive a family discount of 50% off of one registration. Contact Carly Robinson
(crobinson@ccef.org) to receive a registration coupon code for this discount.
For more information on church group discounts, contact Carly Robinson (crobinson@ccef.org).
8. May I pay for my course in installments?
CCEF is unable to accept payment for courses in installments. Payment must be received in full
in order to reserve your space in a course.
9. Do any of the courses have prerequisites?
Dynamics of Biblical Change is a prerequisite to all other courses in the program.
10. Which course should I take after Dynamics of Biblical Change?
Although there is not a required sequence after Dynamics of Biblical Change, many students
choose to continue working on courses within the Foundations certificate. Helping Relationships
is a popular course to take next. If you have further questions, please contact Carly Robinson
(crobinson@ccef.org).
11. I would like to register a church group to take a course together. What is the best way to
proceed?
We are thrilled that you would like to take a church group through a course! Please contact Carly
Robinson (crobinson@ccef.org) well before the registration deadline so that we can assist you
with your registration.
12. When and where will my class meet?
CCEF courses meet at Westminster Theological Seminary (2960 Church Road, Glenside, PA
19038) and at CCEF (1803 E. Willow Grove Ave., Glenside, PA 19038). One to two weeks prior
to the semester’s start date, you will receive an email from Carly Robinson (crobinson@ccef.org)
with more detailed information about your course location and start date.
13. Can you please send me a syllabus?
You will receive a syllabus and more information about your course one to two weeks prior to the
semester’s start date. Please contact Carly Robinson (crobinson@ccef.org) to request a syllabus
prior to this time.
14. What is a hybrid course?
Hybrid courses are a combination of our online and on-site courses. Hybrid courses utilize videos
from the online virtual campus, but students also meet live for a portion of the class (i.e., you
must be present in the Philadelphia area to participate).
15. What is the price for a hybrid course?
$599 for a 3-credit course; $415 for a 2-credit course. You can audit hybrid courses for 50% off.
These fees do not include required textbooks.
16. What are the technical requirements for taking a CCEF hybrid course?
We recommend that you have access to a desktop or laptop (not just an iPad or mobile device)
with internet access, as well as Microsoft Word or a word processor that can export files in a .doc
or .docx format. We recommend using Google Chrome for your browser when accessing the SBC
Online classroom.
17. Do I need to be logged in at a certain time to participate in the online lectures for a hybrid
course?
Each week, you will watch or listen to a pre-recorded lecture. Though your weekly assignments
are due by a certain date, you are free to watch or listen to your lecture at any time during the
week that is conducive to your schedule.
