The Dunn Family Award
Presented periodically to recognize a faculty or staff member of the Johns Hopkins University community
who, beyond the classroom, has made an extraordinarily positive impact upon the lives of one or more
undergraduate students during their enrollment/residence at Homewood. The award is made in honor of
three generations of Dunns attending Johns Hopkins: Wendell E. Dunn, 1921; Wendell E. Dunn, Jr. B.E.
1943, Ph. D. 1950; Thomas B. Dunn, B.S. 1946 (Distinguished alumnus of the Peabody Conservatory);

The George E. Owen Teaching Award
Awarded annually by the Student Council in conjunction with the Office of the Dean for Arts and Sciences
for outstanding teaching and devotion to undergraduates. This award was established by the 1982
Student Council to honor George E. Owen, who was dean of the Homewood Faculties

The Gold Cup
Awarded by the Senior Class to a Student Affairs staff member (including Enrollment Services and Student
Life), generally in a full time professional position. The recipient is a person who goes above and beyond
their day-to-day responsibilities to assist students

The Old Gold and Sable Award
Awarded by the Senior Class to either a faculty or staff member, recognizing individuals who have had a

Bisexual and Transgender community at Hopkins. Harvey Milk stood for tolerance and justice and, as
such, the Harvey Milk recipient should be dedicated to the needs and concerns of GLBT students

The Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA) ROTC Honor Certificate
Presented to a Cadet that is a U.S. citizen and an academic junior (MS 3) preparing to enter their senior
year who is majoring in electronics, electrical, aerospace, or communications engineering, mathematics,
physics, computer science or technology, information systems management systems or related technical
disciplines. The Cadet should demonstrate high academic achievement

The American Legion General Military Excellence Awards (AMLEG)
Presented to an MS 2, MS 3, and MS 4 Cadets who are in the top 25% of their academic classes. The
Leadership category of this award is for MS 2, MS 3, and MS 4 ROTC Cadets in the top 25% of ROTC
classes, and demonstrate outstanding qualities in military leadership, discipline, character, and citizenship.
The Outstanding Cadet category is awarded to the overall outstanding Cadet of the ROTC program
