At AMNH: Science Content in Earth Science Investigations at AMNH (workshop 301) 3/10 & 3/24 Saturdays Using research based findings on teaching and learning and museum exhibits, participants will explore concept development and misconceptions in the areas of plate tectonics and the role of evidence and explanation in inquiry. Participants will reflect on how these concepts might affect our teaching practice and our students’ exit projects. At NYBG and Bronx Zoo: Science Content in Life Science Investigations at NYBG and BZ (workshop 302) 1/29 & 2/12 Sundays Using research based findings on teaching and learning and garden exhibits and activities participants will explore the content goals and misconceptions surrounding adaptation and natural selection. Participants will then reflect on what the research tells us and how that might impact our practice and our students’ exit projects. At NY Hall of Science and BBG: Science Content in Physical Science Investigations at NYSCI and BBG (workshop 303) 3/4 & 3/18 Sundays Using research based findings on teaching and learning, New York Hall of Science exhibits and Brooklyn Botanic Garden activities we will dive into research on what your students really need to know about light and liquids and how they relate to plant investigations.
