NORCO HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR CLASS INFORMATION 2014
GRADUATION CEREMONY - WEDNESDAY, May 28th AT 7:00 p.m.
Graduates will meet in the gym at 6:00 p.m. Only participating staff and graduates will be allowed in the gym.
PARTICIPATION/BEHAVIOR
Students will be allowed to participate if they have completed graduation requirements by May 28th. Participation
in the ceremony is strictly optional and is discouraged for students not interested in participating in a formal and
dignified commencement. Students who detract from the ceremony may be removed by security. Please
remember, once you are recognized, others are recognized immediately after you and any activity that detracts
from those receiving their recognition will be deemed inappropriate behavior. Parents and guests are asked to
please refrain from leaving early and from yelling, applauding or moving from your seat any time during the
ceremony, particularly during the time when the graduates’ names are being called. Noisemakers are prohibited.
PARKING
Graduates are to enter the north gate and park on the grass field next to the ROTC (R13) building only. Student
lots are for parents and guests. Preferred parking is available in the upper lot next to the field house for a fee of
$5.00. Special parking and seating areas will be available to handicapped guests. The handicapped person and one
guest will be permitted to sit in this area. All other guests in the party will be asked to sit in the bleachers.
Parking in the surrounding horse trails is illegal.
OBLIGATIONS
Obligations for books, materials, equipment, etc. must be cleared by the department who issued the obligation i.e.
activities, athletics, textbooks or the library in order to participate in the ceremony and/or grad night. Cash or
money order only. NO CHECKS. Graduation tickets and/or diplomas will be held until all obligations are cleared.
ATTIRE
Appropriate street attire must be worn under graduation robes (collared shirt and dress slacks for boys; dresses
or slacks and blouse for girls). Other than school approved stoles, honor cords, and honor medallions, no jewelry,
decoration, or signs will be permitted on the graduation apparel. Dress shoes are appropriate. *No high heels shoes
will be allowed.
PHOTOGRAPHY
In order to preserve the dignified tone of the ceremony, the following policy will be in effect:
a) Parents will be permitted to take pictures only from their seats in the stadium.
b) You may reunite with your graduate off the field after the ceremony for picture taking.
c) A private company will take a picture of each graduate receiving a diploma and making viewing/ordering on
line available. The company’s name is DC Photography their phone number is (951) 290-7276.
REHEARSAL
Graduates who choose to participate in the commencement exercises are REQUIRED to attend the scheduled
rehearsals on Thursday, May 22nd from 9:50 am until 11:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 27th in the gym and Wednesday, May
28th in the stadium, beginning at 8:00 a.m.-completion time of practice will vary depending on items to be reviewed
and student participation. Please be certain that your schedules do not conflict with the required rehearsals.
GRADUATION TICKETS
Four (4) graduation tickets will be issued to each graduating senior at no charge. A maximum of ten (10)
additional tickets may be purchased at $10.00 each, CASH ONLY. Tickets will be available for pick up in the gym
on Thursday, May 22nd during cap and gown distribution, Friday, May 23rd from 10-11:30 a.m. and Tuesday, May 27th
after morning graduation practice. Each graduating senior must pick up his/her own tickets and ID must be shown.
Each individual attending, regardless of age, must have a ticket, except our 2014 graduates. A ticket guarantees
entrance to the stadium, not seating. No reserved seating. Gates will open at 6:00 p.m.
Excess tickets will go on sale to the public on Tuesday, May 27th from 2-3:00 p.m. in the Activities Office as well
as Wednesday, May 28th from 10-11:30 a.m. and 2-2:45 p.m. All ticket purchases made must be CASH only.
CAP & GOWN COLLECTION/DIPLOMAS
NHS purchases the cap/gown/tassel package for ALL upcoming 2014 grads. Seniors place their orders through
Jostens, but are not charged. Pick up of the Cap/Gown/Tassel packages will begin on May 21st in the gym at 12:40
p.m. In order to receive a diploma, graduates must purchase or return the cap/tassel and return the gown. Only
the cap and tassels will be sold to graduates on Thursday, May 29th during the required return time. Caps and
tassels are $10 each or both for $15. Pick up of diplomas (actual diplomas are not handed out at the Graduation
ceremony) and return of the cap/gown/tassel is on Thursday, May 29th between the hours of 9:30-11:00 A.M.
in the gym. This is the only time you will be allowed to return your cap/gown/tassel. Not returning the
cap/gown/tassel will result in a $180.00 obligation. Failure to clear any obligation will result in not receiving a
diploma. Cash or money order only. NO CHECKS ACCEPTED. NO LATE RETURNS ACCEPTED - Late returns result
in mandatory purchase of rented items.
SENIOR GRADUATION PHOTO
An additional diploma photo will be taken prior to the graduation in the gym on a green screen the day of
graduation if students choose to. This photo is of the graduate holding their diploma with the Norco N or similar
background. These photos will also be available to view and purchase through DC Photography.
SENIOR DINNER DANCE
Friday, May 16th at Etiwanda Gardens. This year’s theme is “The Last Aloha”. Previous graduates say this was their
favorite dance while at NHS. No dates, No drama, No underclassmen; just your SENIOR classmates and fun!!
Tickets on sale in the Activities Office May 1st. Prices are $40 with ASB and $43 without. If purchased at the
door of the event the cost is $45 cash only. If your student purchased a Senior Package at registration the Senior
Dinner Dance ticket was included. They may be picked up in the Activities Office starting Monday, April 28th.
SENIOR AWARDS PROGRAM
Wednesday, May 14thth at 7:00 p.m. in the high school’s PAC. We will notify you in advance if your son/daughter
will receive an award.
GRAD NIGHT AT DISNEYLAND
Grad night will be held on Thursday, May 22nd. Students must ride the District provided busses and follow
DISNEYLAND DRESS CODE. Busses will load at approximately 3:00 p.m. in front of the school. Tickets go on
sale to Seniors May 1st-21st in R8. Ticket prices are $100 from May 1st-15th. NO GUEST TICKETS WILL BE SOLD.
Field trip permission forms and cleared obligation slips must be presented at time of purchase. Grad Night
Obligation forms and field trip permission slips will be available in R8 on April 18th. Tickets usually sell out, so
please plan to buy early; 185 TICKETS WERE PRE-SOLD AT REGISTRATION IN THE SR. PACKAGES. If your
grad night ticket was pre-purchased during registration in the Senior package you will pick up your ticket starting
on Monday, April 28th at the Activities Window. Bus signups will begin on Monday, May 12th for students who have
purchased their ticket. ALL participants must ride the school provided transportation to Grad Night.
Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate is on May 17th at 9:00 a.m. It is a spiritual celebration sponsored by Students with a Testimony
(SWAT) in the Performing Arts Center. There is no cost for this event. Seniors and their families are welcome.
