Sussex Archaeological Society Job Description Job Title Project Co-ordinator (temporary for 6 months) Location Anne of Cleves House Museum Reports to Reporting to Post Holder Main Purpose of the Job Commercial Manager A team of Volunteers To provide oversight of the volunteers and their activities under the current funded project at Anne of Cleves House Museum ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Co-ordinate the training and learning activities of the volunteers at Anne of Cleves House Museum and liaise with all stakeholders to ensure that the aims and outcomes of the Society’s project are achieved in accordance with the expectations of the funding bodies. In particular, the focus should be on the following aspects: The creation of a craft training and historic plant area in the garden for use by volunteers, schoolchildren and visitors to the museum Providing support for the reinterpretation of the existing displays in the museum and the creation of display areas in the café and in the main house in order to enhance the visitor experience to the property. Developing wider access to the museums and heritage sector through a community engagement programme 2. Develop a programme of training, skills development and learning opportunities for volunteers through the delivery of the re-display element of the project. Key Tasks 1. Liaise with stakeholders in the project (Funding bodies, staff, volunteers, Friends etc) to deliver the aims and outcomes, manage the project finances and maintain the project plan. 2. Support and develop volunteers, providing training and learning opportunities within the context of the project. 3. Manage and support the volunteers in the creation of a historic plant area in the garden of Anne of Cleves’ House for future learning purposes. 4. Create a display area within the community café in keeping with the cultural and historical heritage of the site. 5. Support the development of new interpretation within Anne of Cleves House Museum. 6. Education & Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Good record keeping and use of standard IT packages. Professional background in a museum-based historical or cultural heritage discipline or equivalent experience. √ √ Teaching qualification or equivalent with extensive experience of working in a community learning environment Good knowledge of museums including collections, interpretation and display. √ Experience of managing projects with partner organisations in the heritage sector. √ √ √ Experience of managing and developing volunteers and trainees.
