NAHNDAHWEH TCHIGEHGAMIG Wikwemikong Health Centre Employment Opportunity Registered Nurse – Primary Care The NAHNDAHWEH TCHIGEHGAMIG Wikwemikong Health Centre is seeking a Registered Nurse for the position of Maternal, Newborn & Child Health. Job Summary Maternal, newborn and child health is an integrated continuum of care that provides services and support to families with children up to school age. Training and Mentoring will be provided by a skilled nurse in Maternal & Newborn care. Responsibilities The nurse assists in the pre-natal clinics in collaboration with obstetrical care physicians, provides ongoing care and support in the neonatal period, provides postpartum care, offers in-home support, provides education and support to breastfeeding mothers, child health and development, provides immunization to infants and children, and works in partnership with other health care providers and agencies. Qualifications Baccalaureate in Nursing or Registered Nurse with diploma. 3-5 years experience in nursing. Experience in child health is considered an asset. Demonstrate strong clinical skills in assessment of infants and young children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, reliability and problem solving skills. Self-directed learner/worker who requires minimal supervision. Strong critical thinking and decision making skills. Immunization certification or willing to take training. Knowledge and understanding of First Nation communities and their culture is an asset. Ability to work respectfully in a multi-disciplinary team. Valid Ontario Driver’s License CPR and First Aid. Salary is in accordance to WUIR Salary Grid.
