Jumping John’s Nursery Glastonbury
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Admission criteria
Owing to the restricted availability of places Jumping Johns Nursery has a
waiting list and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis,
provided the sessions required are available. Parents/carers are invited to add
their child’s details from 12 months old. If you require any clarification of our
admissions policy please do not hesitate to ask.
Parents must be aware that a placement within the Nursery does not
automatically qualify your child to start school at St John’s CofE VC Infants’
school. A separate application must be made via Somerset County Council. All
parents/carers with children approaching school entry age will be invited to
apply for their preferred school.
Nursery Places and Bookings
The Nursery must receive a signed and fully completed application form
before a place can be considered. Full and part time sessions must fit in to
the session times detailed on the application form; however, we will attempt
to meet individual needs when necessary.
An original birth certificate must be provided to the Nursery staff prior to a
child starting their placement within the nursery.
Fees and Invoices
Nursery fees are payable half termly in advance by cheque, cash or employer
childcare vouchers. Invoices will be sent out 7 days prior to the beginning of
the half term, payment must be received by the first day the child is due to
stay at the Nursery in that half term.
It is the responsibility of the parent to inform the Nursery if an invoice has not
been received.
Any late payments delivered after 7 days will incur a £10.00 daily charge.
Other than if we are in breach of these Terms and Conditions, all sessions
booked must be paid for, regardless of whether the child attends. No refunds
will be given for sessions missed due to holidays or sickness. Failure to meet
payments will result in the termination of the Nursery place and in such
circumstances the parents will not be entitled to a refund of any fees.
1
Any outstanding fees will be pursued. Banking fees incurred by the nursery as
a result of a bounce cheque will be added to the outstanding bill and going
forward only cash payments will be accepted.
One half terms written notice is required if you wish to take your child out of
the Nursery, funding for 3 year olds + will continue to be claimed until the
end of the notice period and as such can not be claimed else where.
The Nursery does not offer any fee reductions for siblings attending the
Nursery.
All childcare at the Nursery qualifies towards the childcare tax credits.
Nursery Grants
Nursery grant funding is available for all 3 and 4 year olds from the funding
period following their third birthday.
The funding periods are:
Autumn: 1 September – 31 December
Spring: 1 January - 31 March
Summer: 1 April – 31 August
This funding is available for 38 weeks a year spread over three terms. Please
note, the 38 weeks of funding does not always cover the nursery sessions
throughout each term, consequently parents will be expected to pay for any
short fall. Parents will be kept informed when this occurs.
Operating Hours
Jumping John’s Nursery is open from 9:00am – 3:00pm Monday to Friday in
the future the hours will be extended based around parent /carers needs.

of £5.00 for every 15 minutes may be imposed.

Jumping Johns Lunch Club
A Lunch Club is operated between the hours of 11:30am and 12:30pm to
children eligible for the Nursery Grant. This allows parents the flexibility of
extending their chosen funded sessions.
Places are on a first come first served basis. In order to plan for statutory
adult to child ratios, a fee of £3.00 per day is payable a week in advance and
is non refundable. Monies can be carried forward from the 2nd day of
sickness if the nursery is informed of the child’s absence in advance. Parents
must provide a healthy packed lunch. (No chocolate or sweets please)

Termination / Cancellation / Change
We require one half term’s notice, in writing, should you wish to terminate a
Nursery place for any reason. Parents still remain liable for fees throughout
the notice period. If a parent withdraws their child during this notice period,
the fees shall still remain payable. We reserve the right to terminate a
Nursery place with immediate effect if any fees are not paid by the due date,
or if a parent or carer displays abusive, threatening or otherwise inappropriate
behaviour. Please note that for a child that is eligible for 3yrs+ funding, the
funding will be continued to be claimed until the end of the notice period.
In all other circumstances we will give you one half term’s notice, in writing,
should we wish to terminate a Nursery place for any reason.
If the parent for any reason postpones a start date, we reserve the right to
charge from the original start date stated on the application form.
If a parent wishes to change the number of sessions taken at Nursery, one
months’ notice, in writing, must be given and a ‘Change of Sessions’ form
must be completed and handed in at Nursery. However, we will try to
accommodate changes when required.
Behaviour Management
A Behaviour Management policy is in place and Nursery Staff will work with
parents/carers to resolve behavioural issues, outside agencies may be called
upon to give the child the most appropriate support required. Jumping Johns
will always strive to achieve a resolution and only as a final resort, will a
parent/carer be asked to withdraw or remove their child from Nursery.
If you would like to see or discuss our Behaviour Management policy please
ask a member of the Nursery staff.
We will not tolerate Nursery staff being spoken to in an abusive or
threatening manner by parents or carers. Such behaviour may result in the
termination of a Nursery place.
Insurance
We have extensive Insurance cover – A copy of the Nursery Insurance
certificate can be found on the Nursery Notice board.

must be given at home and parents must take all medicines home at the end
of each day.
We may require parents to withdraw their child from Nursery, in the event
that they require special medical care or attention, which is not available or
refused by parents or it is considered that the child is not well enough to
attend Nursery. We may also ask parents to withdraw their child from
Nursery, if we have reasonable cause to believe that they are or maybe
suffering from or has suffered from any contagious disease/infection and
there remains a danger that other children (including sickness and diarrhoea)
at the Nursery may contract such a disease/infection.
At times head lice can become a problem, to reduce the risk of infestation
parents and carers are asked to check their child’s hair on a weekly basis
using conditioner and a lice comb. If the nursery detects/notices a child has
head lice a notice will be placed on the Nursery notice board asking ‘all’
parents to check and treat their child’s hair.
We accept no responsibility for children contracting contagious
diseases/infections. Parents are requested to inform the Nursery if their child
is suffering from any illness, sickness or allergies before attending Nursery.
We have a realistic attitude to the needs of working parents but we reserve
the right to contact parents if their child becomes ill during Nursery hours.
