Carnegie Museum of Natural History Archives, CMNH 2005 – 3 Photograph and Film Collection of George W. Wyckoff, Jr. Primarily photographic materials associated with the 1972 Carnegie Museum of Natural History Expedition to the Baffin Islands. George W. Wyckoff, Jr., a Term Trustee of Carnegie Museum, accompanied J. Kenneth Doutt, Curator of Mammals, on this expedition, 5 April to 25 April 1972. Both men took still photographs and Wyckoff, moving pictures, to record the Eskimo hunting economy during the early spring season in preparation for a new Museum exhibition. Collection includes final versions of two major films, “Peungitoo of Baffin Island: a Vanishing Way of Life” and Adolph Murie, Naturalist: Recollections of a lifetime in Mt. McKinley National Park.” The collection is housed in one document box + 155 separately housed films, including many versions and production fragments of two major films filmed by George W. Wyckoff, Jr.
