Fact Sheet - Festive on-course activities for Chinese New Year Raceday
The Chinese New Year Raceday will be held on Sunday 2 February at Sha Tin Racecourse.
An array of amazing on-course performances and activities will be available to entertain the
public and enhance the festive mood.
$68 million jackpots to celebrate CNY
Total payouts of up to $68 million will be on offer to celebrate the Year of the Horse. The
Triple Trio for the Chinese New Year Raceday will be topped up from the TT Jackpot Reserve,
which means the payout for a single $10 winning unit is estimated to reach $28 million. The
Mark Six Chinese New Year Snowball draw will be held on the fifth day of Chinese New Year
(4 February), and the winner of a single $10 first prize unit is expected to take home $40
million.
Free gifts and Lucky Draw on admission
The following giveaways will be offered to racegoers* on admission to Sha Tin Racecourse
before the start of Race 6, or while stocks last.
- a souvenir mobile phone screen wiper printed with famous Chinese Master Painter Xu
Beihong’s masterpiece Shuang Jun (Two Horses),
- an Instant Win card offering the chance to win a HK$688 Shuang Jun 24K gold foil
ornament (up to 1,500 winners). Worth over HK$1,000,000 in total, the prizes are

Spectacular variety show and opening ceremony in the Parade Ring
To get the race meeting off to a memorable start, there will be a spectacular variety show and
opening ceremony in the Parade Ring at 11:00 am. Highlights include:
- popular singer/actor Chilam Cheung performing traditional Chinese New Year festive
songs;
- Suzi Wong together with the “God of Fortune” giving out lai see;
- Feng shui master Mak Ling Ling sharing her Year of the Horse predictions and lucky tips;
- spectacular dragon and lion dancing to summon good fortune;
- jockeys greeting fans with good luck messages.

- game sessions with fabulous prizes by Suzi Wong;
- Year of the horse Fortune Telling Session in which feng shui master Mak Ling Ling will
reveal her New Year predictions.
Enhance CNY good luck at forecourt feng shui display
Feng shui master Mak Ling Ling will help to create a lucky formation on the Public Forecourt,
where racegoers can spin their way to good fortune in the Year of the Horse. While there, be
sure to touch the lucky items to ensure an extra-special blessing.
Take home unique themed merchandise
An undisputed masterpiece demonstrating the extraordinary beauty of horses, Xu Beihong’s
Shuang Jun (Two Horses) is the key visual of the CNY merchandise this year. Special items
include a limited edition Year of the Horse Octopus & Gold Card Set, Liuli Horse, 999.9 Goldplated Bowl & Chopstick Set, Quartz Watch, USB Storage Device, Roller-Pen and a Key
Chain, all available at merchandise counters in the Members’ Enclosure and on the
Concourse. The Xu Beihong Art Committee has authorised the Club to offer replicas of the
Xu’s painting in a limited edition of 25 sets, each with a certificate of authenticity and a
prestigious gift box, at Sha Tin’s Gift Shop At The Races.
Fall for the goodies at Love Knots’ exclusive gold booths
Stylish 24K gold foil ornaments from Love Knots will be available for sale at the Concourse
and 1/F Public Betting Hall selling booths.
Exhibition of Simon Ma’s Horse Arts Project
The Hong Kong Jockey Club is pleased to work with internationally-acclaimed artist Simon
Ma, who was born in Hong Kong and is now based in Shanghai, for a year-long collaboration
to pay tribute to master Xu Beihong. Ma will display some of his exhibits of the Horse Arts
Project at Sha Tin Racecourse on CNY Raceday for the first time.

A special menu of Chinese New Year dishes carrying lucky titles in Chinese will be offered
alongside other popular food items at MezzaOne on 1/F, Grandstand II of the Public

Headline race on CNY raceday
The day’s sporting highlight will be the Chinese New Year Cup (Class 1, 1400m), carrying
prize money of HK$2 million.
Free admission for tourists and visitors
Tourists and visitors to Hong Kong will be given free admission to Sha Tin Racecourse on
CNY Raceday by showing their valid travel documents on entering the Public Enclosure via
tourist entrances.
Free shuttle bus service from temples to racecourse
Sha Tin Racecourse will open for admission at 10:30 am on 2 February and the first race will
be run at 12:30 pm. From 10:15 am onwards, free shuttle buses to the racecourse will be
provided from Che Kung Temple and Wong Tai Sin Temple, two of the most popular venues
for New Year worshippers.
